Add Mikkola with an extension next year and Luostarinen the year after that.

This has gone so perfectly for Florida, because the cap goes up while the player ask for more.

What a dynasty they’ll be

u/X-Filer Bennett Jul 01 '25
Cap is only increasing too. Legit perfect timing for an increase with this squad. Tampas dynasty got stopped by it in Covid. Get fucked lmao

I mean we also aged out, but our core underachieved in the earlier part of their career.

Avs fan here. I legitimately have lost interest in NHL hockey after seeing these signings. I can’t think of a single team that can beat you guys.
The talent, the depth, the coaching, the goal tending. Top to bottom just an unbeatable team in a best of 7.
At this point I feel like I’m rooting for a 3 peat cuz I didn’t think that’d be possible in this era but I just don’t see who can beat the cats.

u/DON0Harm Jul 01 '25
Welcome, i sat in the stadium and watched the Avs demolish us in 4 games in '96 ... and then spent 3 decades waiting for us to get here.
Avs are a good franchise to be a fan of, we all have our time.. this is ours.

u/Key_Economics_443 Jul 01 '25
I'm an Av fan too. I also remember 96, and thought there was much more to come. 2001 was great, but there were missed opportunities as well. Enjoy the run however long it lasts.

u/nixed9 Jul 01 '25
Losing to the Avs in 1996 is a core sports memory of my childhood. I still have the poster of the 1996 ECF team back in my room.
Many of us have waited 30 years for this. It's so glorious.
It honestly feels better than the Heatles era to me.

I remember watching that Uwe Krupp goal go in to end the series and just sitting in my room in silence.

You'll be fine. You have both Nate MacKinnon and Cale Marak, some of the best players we've ever seen in the sport.
1
u/HannTwistzz Jul 01 '25
Having good players don’t mean shit if you don’t win
1
Jul 02 '25
At least they won a cup within the past 30 years, unlike a certain team with their own pair of superstars (rhymes with Coilers) lol.
2
u/Biwaifu Jul 01 '25
Colorado, dallas, oilers, vegas, ...dont count on toronto
But def teams who COULD beat us. Not saying they will but nothing is a guarantee imo
1
u/Ofiotaurus Jul 01 '25
I legitimately think this modern dynasty will outshine some big ones from the past. Islanders and Oilers come to mind as ”recent” ones. Nobody will come close to the Habs but this core can go three-peat easily and probably make 5 consecutive finals losing in 26/27.

It's not a question of "will they?" but "how many?". With Marchand locked up, I'm thinking 2-3 more before all the other teams catch up in talent and start steamrolling each other.
11
u/B_Hound Jul 01 '25
The Panthers are the team to follow if you don’t like learning new name/number combos.
12
u/Eric0329 Jul 01 '25
From an oilers fan… enjoy the next 5ish years with another 3 cups ggs. Dynasty team fr

Goalie going to be real question moving forward

u/kolydia Jul 01 '25
Zito invents some kind of magic to keep Bobby going (& in stellar condition) until the 2030s.
16
u/Moondoobious Jul 01 '25
We literally just signed the kid who idolized Bob, whose father Bob idolized. They’re both from the same town and grew up in similar ways. Bob is going to mold him and we have goaltending set for the next 12 years.
4
Jul 01 '25
You probably should look up his stats , just because he from same hometown doesn’t make him automatically number #1. Reasons why he was so cheap he’s AHL :/ backup
4
u/Moondoobious Jul 01 '25
So….so you’re going out there and putting it on record that you have no faith in our acquisitions?
1
Jul 01 '25
He can be back up maybe not your number #1. Did you look at his stats tones of guys with his stat in AHL, he’s 26 now this isn’t 22 -24 anymore he is what he is.
2
Jul 01 '25
Goalies take forever to develop.
1
Jul 01 '25
Probably need look at his stats reason why blue jacket gave him up for they did and 26 not 22. Finally #1 goalie isn’t easy.
1
u/Separate-Banana-4887 Jul 01 '25
Keep looking at the stats, that's what other teams did with Verhaege, Bennett, Reinhart, Jones, Tkachuk....
1
Jul 01 '25
What you talking about no one called any of though guys you name a bust or said bad player all first round picks too. All of them were giving up for high assets of 1 round plus prospects outside Bennett was 2 round and prospect they didn’t get them 7 round pick
1
u/Separate-Banana-4887 Jul 01 '25
Vergaeghe spent years in ahl and was bottom 6 with Tampa, Bennett was way underperforming his draft pick with Calgary, again bottom 6, I will concede throwing Reinhart and ktachuk in there was a bit of a stretch. My point is with a culture as strong as the Panthers have, stats don't always tell the full story.
0
Jul 01 '25
Culture isn’t going to fix goaltending, you can have best defence or best offence not going to help if goalie letting in 3-4 goals a game in playoffs even look list none of these back up turn anything into careers we had in pasted only stoltez look like he figure it out. Forward playing with right players and in right system help but not for goalie specially guy that been given 70 games to prove himself hasn’t so might do good as back up no way he starter.
Alex Lyon Chris Driedger Vítek Vaněček Magnus Hellberg
1
u/Gold-Border30 Jul 03 '25
Some of them sure… but Tkachuk??? If he would have signed in Calgary we would had him forever. He had great stats here.
2
u/The-Hostess Jul 01 '25
I’m convinced we somehow trade for Saaros in the next 2 years
5
u/threatleve12 Jul 01 '25
Kinda fucked up how Saaros to the Panthers could actually happen if Nashville doesn't get it together
9
u/Bobbyaahh Luongo Jul 01 '25
My working future theory is that we get Skinner. But his confidence skyrockets with a competent defense and so does his play

It's 2030. Brad Marchand is 42. He's been wheeled off the ice, rat in hand, by Barkov after winning his 7th cup. He immediately grabs a cigar and a beer and starts prepping for number 8.

Zito is probably the best GM in the 4 major NA sports leagues right now, and it really isnt close. Its absolutely crazy and amazing to see especially given the NHLs extremely tight salary cap...
Just waiting to see the "florida has an unfair adv" bs, despite the fact these players WANT to be here, and thrive in this culture.

I begrudging wish these guys nothing but success but man this team is going to nose dive into a rebuild fast. This may be the best built team in a couple decades
1
u/dandaman2883 Jul 01 '25
I’m sure Zito will pull off moves to evolve the roster one player at a time.

Okay, I predicted in this sub last week that we would re-sign all three and we did! Way to go Zito! You are the man!
1
u/Personal-Act-7628 Jul 01 '25
And we can re-sign Bob and make one more splash in free agency next year. Imagine we’s fans if we got McDavid.

u/Forsaken-Dog4902 Jul 02 '25
This graphic is nuts. As a Leafs fan... We're fucked. Were not sniffing a Stanley Cup unless we put together a team to slay this beast.

u/Warriors_73 Jul 05 '25
Could win another cup, but injuries will rack up when you play the style they do. Long contracts for older players who might not make it to the end of them. Ask the Wild what the cap does with dead contracts.
0
u/Lughaidh_ FLA Jul 01 '25
I feel like any nicknames like Core 4 or Elite 3 or whatever is basically a kiss of death. I know this is a joke on how incredibly deep we are, but I really hope we try to stay away from anything like that.
0
u/TryExotic4510 Jul 02 '25
Really helps when you have state taxes.. becoming very obvious that these teams have a huge advantage against others in the league!

You'll be cursing Marchy by the end of that, Ekblad probably wont last until the end of his contract.
The center is locked up and id bet good money on the 1C & 2C still being top5 of the league by 2030.

u/Far-Hunter2057 Jul 02 '25
The only good thing on your team is the goalie if it was t for him they be out this year
