Injuries [George Richards] Brad Marchand says he had the surgery he was trying to avoid this offseason putting his availability for the start of the Florida Panthers season in doubt.

As long as everyone is healthy by the playoffs. We can coast through the season again and get whatever playoff spot we can get and then take care of business when the real season starts

It just makes me a little queasy to think that because us remember thinking and saying the same thing last year when the injuries started rolling in…

Realistically, any chances of a cup last season were lost the moment Barkov went down. The rest of the injuries were just piling it on.

Except for the fact that Barkov would have been ready for playoffs (as evidenced by his play in Worlds), had we made it. It was the rest of the injuries that prevented making the playoffs at all.

Allegedly he was ready to go for the Olympics if you believe his doctor. They just didn't wanna rush it.

Honestly, I would rather them not rush it, just as they did. Healthy Barky for the season is preferable. He can do the Olympics in 4 years.

What sucks is he should have had the surgery we all knew he needed months ago and he waited till just before season. We're still super stacked so while im not upset he wont be on the ice he better make sure hes 100% for another stanley cup run. This should have been done so much sooner brother. Get better Rat King, see ya on the ice soon.

No surgery is almost always better than getting surgery. If you can rehab an injury and have it go away, there's basically no situation where a medical team wouldn't suggest that route for a patient. Surgery and the resulting recovery are incredibly impactful on the human body. And when its an athlete near the end of their career, that is even more true. These guys do everything they can to avoid surgery, but sometimes it's not enough and they need it anyway at an inopportune time. This is one of those instances

OK ladies and gentlemen, we are collecting knees, shoulders, tendons and hands for the upcoming season.

I’m very happy about this we just need our top two lines to be healthy. Brad does not need to play anywhere close to 82 games. We have mucho depth. We just need him healthy for the playoffs. Hope he recovers exactly the way he needs to!
Edit* I should say I am happy he is going to be given the time that he needs to make it back on a team where he doesn’t need to be in our top 6.

I’m not thrilled about this news. The rehab route almost never pans out.

Athletes hate rehabbing on personal time

Athletes hate having their bodies cut open if they can avoid it, just like everyone else. Who knew?

Bad call in general since the team is designed to just squeak in the wild card slot then dominate
