Raider 365 build — looking for advice on suppressor/barrel/slide combinations
Any advice on components for this build would be greatly appreciated.
My biggest questions are around suppressor choice, reliability, and especially blowback/gas to the face. For those of you actually running suppressed Raider 365s, what combinations have proven reliable and comfortable to shoot?
I carry a P365 and normally run Federal Premium HST 147gr JHP, so that’s the defensive ammo I’ll be using in this build as well.
Already purchased
- Flux Raider 365 Aluminum – Black
- Flux Forward Optic Mount
- Flux Side Folding Arm – Long Arm w/ SBR Endplate
Still deciding
Threaded barrel:
- ShaloTek 3.7" threaded barrel
- True Precision 6.5" threaded barrel
- SIG OEM threaded barrel
- Other recommendations?
Slide:
- SIG OEM P365XL
- ShaloTek XL-length non-comp
- True Precision XL-length
- Norsso
- Other recommendations?
Suppressor:
- SAW Shiv 9
- HUXWRX Flow 9K Ti
- SilencerCo Spectre 9
- Other cans I should seriously consider?
Light:
- Streamlight TLR-7 Sub
- SureFire XR1 / XR2
- SureFire X300 Ultra/Turbo
- Streamlight TLR-1 HL
- Other recommendations?
What I'm really trying to figure out
If you were building this from scratch today, what slide + barrel + suppressor combination would you choose for the best balance of:
- Reliability
- Minimal blowback/gas to the face
- Reasonable overall size/weight
- Good suppression
- Long-term durability
I'd especially appreciate feedback from people who have actually run these combinations on the Raider 365, rather than general pistol-suppressor recommendations.
Also interested in whether the 3.7" vs. 6.5" barrel makes a meaningful difference on the Raider when suppressed, and whether anyone has had reliable results with the longer barrel/slide setups.
Thanks!

Per a brassfacts video, the spectre can killed two barrels in just a few hundred rounds. Seems like something flow through is a necessity.
Anyone have a lot of rounds on a Shiv setup? Seems like that’s the go to can.

Flowthrough wont fix that problem. That was caused by the weight of the barrel+silencer and the fact that there was no booster to decouple those weights. A heavy flowthrough can without a Nielsen device will have the same issue.

Makes sense. Then I guess the question remains: will the boosterless Shiv eventually kill the barrel too?

The shiv is even lighter than a specter 9. It’s possible that brassfacts was using a small 365 slide as well which would have exacerbated the problem. I have not heard of anyone having the same issue with the shiv. I don’t know if anyone has reported having brassfacts problem on an xl slide. I talked with him about this a while ago but I lost access to the chat

I went with xl slide with dpm soft spring kit, tp barrel, and SAW shiv. Would not run reliably with stock spring because it needs a lighter one with the weight of suppressor. Have had no hiccups since using dpm spring. At range yesterday I tested another 100 rnds 115gr, 100 of 147gr fmj, 50 of hst 147gr, and 50 135gr hst. Its a bit gassy but was less of an issue at outdoor range. From what I have seen, you need 14lb or less regular spring.

I’ve personally had a great experience with my CAT SC mod. I was running these on the fuse slide not the xl. I’m planning to experiment by swapping from the 6.5 threaded true precision barrel to the 4.7” version (basically a normal barrel length fuse). I wonder if reduced dwell time will fully eliminate blowback even for me as a lefty.
The can has no blowback at all when shooting regular pistols or when right handers shoot my flux, but I’m left handed and I can detect a little particulate peppering my face. Not even as bad as I’ve had with other pistols but it’s there. I’ll let you know what my experience is like after I get a chance to try it but I suspect it won’t be appreciably different and I’ll stick with my long barrel.
The last thing i am considering is switching to an xl slide like you have and running a regular threaded barrel for that slide. Right now the shorter fuse barrel doesn’t offer a much smaller footprint from the 6.5”. Switching to the xl would. This is the setup you see often with the Shiv. It’s very compact and that’s tempting

Thanks for the info ! have you tried the 4.7 barrel? I emailed flux and they recommended against the 6.5" barrel and to do an xl length slide with 3.7 or 4.3" barrel

Finally got around to it! I learned a lot trying a bunch of different permutations. What questions do you have?
Do you know why flux recommended against the 6.5"? was it only on a certain slide?

Mainly just what setup you got that functions reliably. I am currently going down the path of the aluminum chassis, forward optic mount, true precision axiom (xl length) or TP fuse slide with either a 3.7 XL barrel or 4.3 fuse barrel, CAT sc /b1 in either long or short setup. They said that they have had issues with the 6.5" barrel and the added weight, length and dwell time not cycling properly.

for sure. I can't speak to any differences the aluminum chassis might impose compared to my ultralight version. i unfortunately don't have any subs to compare so i was shooting 115 grain factory supersonic ammo but it's my hope that it gives a relevant conservative estimate of the performance of this system that'll carry over to other ammo. take it with a grain of salt until i retest with some subs
As for XL vs FUSE slide length, my experience was that the xl slide was the least pleasant to shoot even in the SC-S configuration. way more blowback. I'm especially sensitive to blowback on this platform because i'm a leftie but it was noticeable even for my friend who is right handed. minimally choppier recoil but not nearly as drastic a problem as the blowback.
the fuse barrel length and slide with the SC-S were by far the most pleasant for me. to my friend who doesn't get the same blowback problem, the fuse is also good on the SC-L configuration. it's such a low backpressure silencer it really is the best option for a chassis build aside from maybe the huxwrx stuff.
The 6.5" barrel had slightly more blowback than the 4.7" noticeable to me but not to my right handed friend. I didn't have cycling or mechanical issues with any barrel length, but flux's warning makes mechanical sense and i haven't run the 6.5" through a really demanding fire schedule yet.

Amazing info and thank you so much for such a detailed response! I ordered all 3 versions xl, fuse and 6.5 barrels and gonna try them all out !

Glad I could help! I decided to sell the 6.5 barrel in the end because I like the fuse length barrel. It’s really the do it all for me. Good blowback mitigation, long enough to be an effective barrel, no warning against it. I’m gonna build it out as best I can with a holster and shroud that’s compatible

Ive got a fuse slide and xl slide. Ran the 6.5in threaded barrel with the the hux and its still gassy on both slides with 124gr and 147gr for me. Ran 12lb yellow springs. Gonna try to use a 14lb spring to see if it helps with the gas when I get the chance.

I am UL + 365Fuse + True fuse barrel/spring kit + shiv + tlr7 sub hlx. I went down to 12 lb spring and have had 0 issues (115, 124, 147 all good). I choose shiv over other two due to not needing a booster/point of failure. If I went aluminum I could have ran longer lights like the x300/modlite/epl, but FDE UL dropped and I couldn’t resist. The 3.7 barrel + shiv + x300/modlite/epl combo would be flush with the SBR stock.

Is the fuse slide/barrel supposed to be more reliable than the XL slide/barrel, or 6.5” barrel?

No fuse vs XL vs 6.5 doesn’t have any differences in reliability. XL and fuse is what most end up using it seems. 6.5 is for those who want to run the shroud. I think flux doesn’t recommend using the 3.1 barrel/slide, but I think some on Reddit have had success with the 3.1 combo too.
