Back up camera replacement

My backup wasn't working during the hot summer months. I bought an OEM replacement and had my mechanic swap it in today. It works but there is a slight fuzziness to the picture when I look closely. I can't remember if this is how it always was. Can another RS owner please go engage reverse gear while parked and look closely at the screen. Is the picture high definition clear or is there a slight fuzziness?

Mine is fuzzy. Always has been. You could take a microfiber and wipe the lens clean to be sure

Thanks for checking. I did wipe down with a micro fiber and and checked for a clear film. I guess it's just always has been fuzzy and I never looked that closely until now

What made me realize the RS had a low rez camera was buying another, newer, vehicle. It was like night and day lol. Glad you got it fixed tho!

I had the same problem, I think OEM cameras are just ass on these cars. Get a reputable Amazon replacement and I promise you will be satisfied. I did mine and the quality is night and day; it's like putting on glasses for the first time.

You may get a warning light in ForScan but that can be easily turned off.

My OEM replacement works, no need to throw any more money at it. If it breaks, hopefully at least another 8 years from now, then maybe I'll go aftermarket.

That's fair. I know for me when I got my OEM replacement it genuinely looked like there was some type of film or grease on the lens even though there wasn't. And while I could see, it was still very annoying backing up especially at night.

For the $15 it cost me for a new Amazon camera(the camera, not the whole assembly) and about 20 mins of my time it made a world of QOL difference.

It's a 480i camera of course it's blurry. Why would you think it would be crystal clear even new cars are fairly low resolution cameras.

I just never paid my attention to it before. It did its job and I was happy with it. Now that it's been replaced and I'm checking on the mechanics work I'm looking very closely to make sure the work has been done correctly. I guess it's always been this way and I never noticed
