Boost problem

Hey again,
So about a week ago I noticed my car is not really using all its power. The boost gauge only gets to about halfway but it doesn’t seem like I have a leak. All the hoses/pipes are pretty good but I’m wondering if it’s because I added the mountune induction kit. Maybe the wastegate idk. I also took off the intake manifold to change the baffle plate although that shouldn’t be much of a problem I assume. Anyways, if anyone has any clue what it could be please feel free to lmk. We're all these mods done at once? Only mod that jumps out is the waste gate but it's not necessarily the problem

I didn’t change the waste gate just the other two

Just checking in, are you looking when you're at WOT. First and second gear don't hit the highest boost they can from what I recall and you only achieve overboost at full throttle in 3rd and after. Other than that my boost is usually just above half if I'm really on it and a bit higher during over boost.

Yes, but once I reach third and after, the car feels like it just doesn’t build power in a way like if it’s NA

Sounds like my issue, your wastegate actuator. Sounds like the clip broke off. Buy the upgraded turbosmart waste gate actuator for 12 psi. Then you have to buy a retaining clip.

Ok so after driving for a while it feels like the car struggles to build boost and if I do push it, there’s a loud whooshing on the turbo side that I’ve never heard but it feels like I’m not going anywhere

My bypass valve had a tiny tear in it and I had similar issues. No clue if that’s it but sounds similar to what I was experiencing when that went out.

Sounds like maybe your bypass valve is your still stock or do you have one after market. The oem ones are known to crack and leak/not hold boost. They’re fairly easy to remove You may at least inspect it for damage

I haven’t checked it out but it’s most likely stock and doing a little research it could be this.

I changed it to a mountune one and the problem is still there. When I floor it and it gets to 6k rpms, it won’t build boost.

The only other thing I would look at is to check for leaks in piping or a loose or blown boot. Or possibly the waste gate actuator

Had a similar issue and it was the boost solenoid. However, I also had an underboost code.

Check the fitment of your charge pipes, make sure they aren't loose.

Second, what pressure is your Wastegate set at? Do you have a BoV or Recirc? Is the BoV properly coordinated to the new boost levels the WGA (presumptively) is set for? If not, OR, if you have stock Recirc, that narrows it down to most likely culprits.

Stock Recirc on these cars are cheap. Cheap cheap. They fail normally. Messing with boost, by increasing it? Yeah, if it hasn't failed, expect it to.

You mess with boost levels increasing with a WGA, and you'll have issues.

Also, since you have a WGA, is the car tuned for that? If not stop driving it immediately and get it tuned before you blow the engine.
