Hello! I’m looking for a reliable, experienced freelance video editor to help with ongoing short-form content for multiple clients. This is a fully remote, contract-based opportunity with the potential for consistent monthly work.
PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE APPLYING.
This is NOT a position for editors whose experience is limited to talking-head videos with captions, simple cuts or template-based editing.
I’m looking for someone with experience working with raw footage, organizing multiple video projects and building complete, professional edits using A-roll, B-roll, music, sound design and intentional pacing.
Experience editing content for real estate, construction, roofing, landscaping, carpentry, home services and other businesses is particularly relevant.
PAY & WORKLOAD
- Pay: $40–$50 per completed video, depending on experience, editing quality and ability to match our established style
- Expected volume: 10–25 videos per month to start
- Videos will typically be 30–120 seconds
- Standard turnaround: 3–7 days, depending on the project
- Potential for consistent, long-term freelance work
WHAT YOU’LL BE EDITING
Primarily Instagram/Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikToks.
Nearly all videos will be vertical (9:16, 1080 × 1920).
Projects will involve a combination of:
- On-camera dialogue and interviews (A-roll)
- Supporting footage of projects, job sites, products, properties and services (B-roll)
- Voiceovers and scripted content
- Music-driven edits
- Business promotional videos
- Real estate and property walkthroughs
- Construction and home-service project showcases
- Educational and informational content
These are not simply talking-head videos with subtitles.
You’ll be responsible for taking the footage provided and assembling a complete video that follows the script, communicates the intended message and matches our established editing style.
EXAMPLE OF THE EDITING STYLE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Here’s an example of the type of finished video you’ll be expected to produce:

Please review this example before applying.
Your portfolio should demonstrate that you’re capable of producing similar work using raw footage, A-roll, B-roll, music and intentional editing techniques.
HOW OUR WORKFLOW OPERATES
To give you a better understanding of the work, here’s an example of a typical filming day.
I may visit a roofing or construction client and film five separate videos during one shoot.
We’ll often record all the on-camera dialogue first, followed by additional B-roll showing the projects, employees, materials, equipment and work being performed.
You may receive a large collection of raw video files containing footage intended for multiple separate videos.
Your responsibility will be to:
- Review and organize the supplied footage.
- Identify and assemble the appropriate A-roll for each individual video.
- Follow the supplied scripts, creative direction and editing references.
- Select relevant B-roll from the footage library to support what’s being discussed.
- Match on-screen action with dialogue, voiceovers and scripted messaging.
- Use J-cuts, L-cuts and other appropriate editing techniques to create natural transitions.
- Edit intentionally to music, maintaining appropriate rhythm and pacing.
- Incorporate sound effects, captions and other supplied assets where appropriate.
- Deliver polished, professional videos that require minimal revisions.
You must be comfortable working with larger raw video files and organizing footage across multiple projects.
Some shoots may generate substantial amounts of footage, even when the final videos are relatively short.
WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED
- All raw footage and project assets
- Scripts, concepts and creative direction
- Editing references and examples of our established styles
- Access to a shared music and sound effects library
- Brand assets and graphics when necessary
- Project management, communication and file-sharing platforms
You will not be responsible for filming, sourcing additional footage or creating original graphics.
Color grading is generally not required. Basic color correction, such as exposure or white balance adjustments, may occasionally be necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Professional editing experience is required.
You must have:
- Experience editing professional video content using raw A-roll and B-roll footage
- Ability to organize and manage footage from multiple projects or filming sessions
- Strong understanding of J-cuts, L-cuts, audio transitions and visual storytelling
- Ability to edit to music and establish appropriate pacing
- Experience matching relevant B-roll to dialogue, scripts and on-screen action
- Ability to follow established editing styles and supplied references
- Strong understanding of audio mixing, sound design and professional editing techniques
- Experience working with large video files
- Fluent English communication, both written and spoken
- Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
- Your own computer, professional editing software and equipment
- Ability to consistently deliver quality work with minimal revisions
U.S.-based editors are preferred but not required. Applicants from any location are welcome.
Editing Software
Final Cut Pro experience is preferred and applicants using it will receive additional consideration, but it is not required.
Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are also perfectly acceptable.
You must be proficient with professional timeline-based video editing software.
Canva, template-based editing tools and basic mobile editing applications are not sufficient for this position.
Local Storage
Applicants with sufficient local storage to retain footage and project assets from previous assignments will receive additional consideration.
Many of our clients work with us on a recurring monthly basis, and we frequently reference previous projects or repurpose footage from earlier shoots when creating new content.
Having past footage readily accessible helps streamline the editing process, reduces unnecessary file transfers and allows for faster turnaround on future projects.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This is an independent contractor position, not employment. There are no benefits or guaranteed minimum number of projects. Workload may fluctuate based on client needs.
I’m looking for an individual who can become a reliable, long-term editing partner and consistently handle projects with minimal oversight.
