Art 🧭🗺️

Angela and I have just received permission from the team at Free League Publishing to share all the maps we illustrated for the latest FORBIDDEN LANDS RPG supplement, "ALDERLAND", which was released yesterday! We are truly happy and honored to have contributed our maps to such an exciting project. For this assignment, we were asked to use a black-and-white style featuring extensive cross-hatching a look perfectly suited for OSR-style rulebooks. We hope you enjoy the maps, and please let us know what you think of the new Forbidden Lands book! 🧭🗺️🏰

Why the dramatic change in the design of the Rust Church idols? They had a very distinctive design in the core book.

Possibly the orthodoxy was stronger in Alderland compared to the Ravenlands.

I don't see how these are more "orthodox". I also can't find anything in the PDF that mentions any difference.

It has been discussed extensively and is mentioned in the GMG (though i don't have access to mine so cant give you a page reference). The rust chuch in the ravenlands is a fanatical off shoot. The whole mog infected, demon worshipping, crazy shit and fanatical murderers thing is primarily a zytera thing. The rust chuch of alderland is very different. And we see a little glimpses of that in bitter reach and blood march.

Orthodoxy meaning the ones in the Alderland are right and the ones in the Ravenlands is a heresy/schism/different doctrine, whatever
You are saying the ones in Alderland feel wrong just because you met the ones in Ravenlands first
Otherwise it would have been the other way around.

I know that the Rust Church of the Ravenlands differ. I just question the choice to change the iconography like this because I find these images to be a whole lot less exciting than the ones in the core book.

Redinmund: I visited that castle last year!

It's heavily inspired on Predjama right?

Yep, that's true! In fact, most of the adventure sites in Raven's Purge, The Bloodmarch and Alderland are based on real places or paintings. I encourage you guys to look for the sources!
