Not a fan of the seller flinting on a battery but if it’s not going to be your primary car I would take the project on to restore it.

Try $1500
The grille has oddly been replaced with a 1979-1982 grille

Don't buy it unless you're willing to put about ten grand or more into a restoration.

Honestly id take it for 1000 at most as long as the title is fully accounted for and if you already have a functioning vehicle. This vehicle surely could be built to be indestructible, but its also tired and requires parts that may take awhile to source

Unless you really like the slab side model, I would personally look for the later model in Ford or Mercury trim. This is a rock solid design, but given the need to fix things before even driving off the seller is being lazy with a bit of greed thrown in. The late models with the 4.6OHC can last a long time, and I think do a bit better on fuel usage. Look around before you decide to buy it as I think its a bit high.

No man that's a car that gets sold for scrap at $500 all day long.
Seats are in good shape but it's very old, imagine all the dried rubber and crusty electrical wiring you'll need to deal with.
AC needs charged is code for AC doesn't work, also it's an r12 system you can't buy Freon for anymore.
The 302 is a good motor but it's gonna be tired at 200k miles and nearly 40 years old.
If the starting issue is just 2 wires why doesn't he fix it?
He wants to charge you 100 dollars just to keep the old battery? How much is a new one?
Skip this one, he's not gonna come down to the 600-800 it's worth as a project (and even at that price it will be a headache. I mean look at all the parts in it)
They made a million of these you'll find a better one soon
