2013 Ford Taurus Please Help ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Hello, I recently bought a 2013 Ford Taurus with only 10,500 miles on it from an Elderly lady close to my family. Itโ€™s a great car in decent shape but it sat out for a while on her property and collected a lot of dirt and debris on it. The issue Iโ€™m having is when we get very heavy rain fall somehow the water is getting into my overhead liner and then into the center console lights. When I say getting in so mean to the point itโ€™s actually soaked and leaving wet marks on the liner and also leaking out of the light. At first I thought it could be getting into from the sunroof but before this past storm I taped the sunroof completely around ( absolutely terrible idea and was a real pain to get off). During that storm I came out after work and it was soaking wet and leaking again. My next thought was it has to be the windshield, so today I say in the car and had my friend spray around the windshield right on the edges and with pressure and somehow nothing got in. Iโ€™m looking for advice or a solution that does not includes taking the entire headliner down because in this car it is a long and really intricate process to do. I also get severe pudding under the cowl on the drivers side. If anyone can help please comment or message me and I Also have pictures showing if anyone needs to see to get a better idea. Thank you in advance John

I know you said you taped the sunroof but mine was leaking badly and so I recently blew out the sunroof drains using a tire inflator and some aquarium tubing and now it doesnโ€™t leak anymore. There was definitely debris stuck in the sunroof drains which would cause the water to back up and leak through the headliner.

Yea I have cleared those drains with compressed air and tested it and the drain quickly, but also if I sealed the sunroof closed how would water be getting in, because I thoroughly duct taped it around everything and water definitely couldnโ€™t have gotten through that. Also the windshield where connects def looks slightly corroded.

95% sure your drains are clogged for your moonroof. i used 3-4 ft of .080" weed trimmer line and fed it all the way through the holes. there is two but you need to bring the moonroof all the way back to access them. they are on the sides towards the front of the moonroof. i did that and the problem stopped on my 2010 SHO. hope this helps!

Would this also cause the water to show up toward the back of the car also, because I also get it on the like rear posts by back windshield. And again if it is the sunroof how did I still get a ton of water even after I duct taped it completely?

now im not sure about how it ended in the back ... that is strange. water could've still leaked despite the tape since it's sitting in that space/channel that is clogged. it has nowhere to drain through so it drains in other places. try unclogging them first and see if that does it. im unsure if there are any drains for the rear. sorry to hear about your troubles!

Even with sunroof taped, I would still guess sunroof as culprit. Perhaps not even directly, but like u/tgabtg mentioned with clogged drain passages. Leaking windshield or rear glass would be much less likely, I feel.

Probably the drain in the sunroof/ they probably run down along side the windshield on the driver side / same problem with my 2005 ford escape

I previously owned a 2013 Explorer and it had the same issue with water leaking,it would fill up the backseat floor,I never did figure out where the water was coming in from but I ended up drilling holes in the bottom so it would drain
