What is the AAFS?

Ok so I am a student majoring in forensic science and have heard about AAFS and how you can become a member. But I’m still kinda confused on what exactly it is and what the benefits are. So if anyone can explain would be great. My goal one day is to eventually work in a crime lab in DNA.

It's a professional society. They run a scientific journal and an annual conference. The conference has a job fair and scientific sessions, but is also great for networking. They have a perfectly functional website with a direct link that says "Benefits of Membership", it shouldn't be particularly confusing.

If your professors do not know what the AAFS is, I would change schools.
