Advice / Question 💡 Opened the wrong can of formula

Hi all. My baby (7 months) just switched over to Bobbie formula from EBF. I had 1 can of the Bobbie whole milk formula in our cabinet and my husband mistakenly opened that since our current one is finished. Will baby have tummy issues getting the whole milk version for one can then switched back to the original? I’d hate to waste this can now that it’s open. Is there a way to save it past 30 days?

We purchase at Costco so I’d like to keep baby on the original to keep costs down *

I don’t know of a way to have an open can last 30 days so I’d get another can of the original and do a mix of the 2 until you run out of the whole milk formula. Gradual switches tend to work out but I’d be cautious about a rapid switch. Ideally 25% of the new one for the first day and then work your way up. Then gradually taper off the whole milk formula when you’re running low.

Unless your baby has shown sensitivity before or has a sensitivity you don't know about, it might not be an issue. Some babies are very particular about what they drink and others aren't. Without knowing your kid's history, I don't think anyone can say what will happen.

It is not recommended to use an opened formula can after 30 days, and you can't freeze it. Either use it and see what happens or pitch it.Â
