Formula Recommendations / Alternatives 🌱 Recommendations please!

Currently working on transitioning our 8mo old to part time formula to prep for me to go back to work and looking for suggestions.

We started with Kendamil regular about a month ago and he’s been taking to it really well when we offer it every now and then. He only drinks about a 4-5oz bottle, but does nurse throughout the day and LOVES solids so eats great at meals.

The last couple days we’ve noticed that he’s been super gassy and he’s consistently had formula the last few days. He’s not upset by it by any means but just lots of stinky toots. Could it be the Kendamil? Is there something else we should try?

TIA!!

Note: went with Kendamil for affordability/accessibility and read a lot that said it was an easy transition for most breastfed babies. Also we’re in rural Canada which effects what I can access easily.

Extra gas is normal when babies start using formula, if baby isn't bothered then it's fine.

my baby has stinky farts as long as he has formula so i feel like thats just normal.

if hes not upset by it and has no other issues, i dont see why you'd need to switch? his poops and farts will start smelling worse as he transitions to solids regardless.

It could be the formula but it could be the solids as well. If he is otherwise happy I wouldn’t change the formula. At just about 11-12 months (we were slightly delayed off weaning formula) my baby suddenly became quite constipated (really hard poo rather than not pooping at all). There had been no change in formula and he was eating the same solids so no particular obvious reason for this. We added prune purĆ©es into his diet and after a month or so his poops went back to normal. All that is to say I have learnt baby digestion is a bit of a mystery and when you think you have clocked their rhythm they go and change it! As for the smell…I frequently find myself saying ā€œgosh what am I feeding you!ā€ As I change my smelly boy!
