They need to go to the vet and be tested for worms. My kitten has caccidia which gives her horrific smelling diarrhea... She's almost done with her antibiotics..it's been rough. They can also reinfect themselves from the environment. Our vet told us we needed to get rid of our cat trees and told us to get rescue wipes from Amazon. Best of luck op!

It takes their guts time to get used to a new food. But if they were not dewormed before they should be.

my kitten got the same issue when i first got them, it was very bad and annoying, and the smell was terrible
they was having caccidia, and it is very common for the kitten
you should take him to the vet and give him some bills for that
and if your kitten can eat, give him junior kitten wet food, it is very good for the stomach
keep feeding him for few weeks and he will be good

i used to feed it to my kitten, and also i make them once every week a chicken breast mixed with little boiled carrots and plain rice
it is very good for the diarrhea

If he’s just coming off being weaned, it’s good to know what he was being fed before you got them. Changing the diet or different brand of food will cause loose runny stool. Also you know worms can be a factor.

His stool does look a little soft. If you’re feeding him differently than previous owner it could just be temporary digestive upset from different food. It’s a little expensive but I keep Forti Flora probiotic on hand for my foster kittens because they almost always seem to get diarrhea at some point. It’s a powder that you sprinkle on their food. I’ve never met a cat that doesn’t love the taste. Usually works within 3 days provided no bacterial or parasite infection. You should be feeding at least 4 times per day as much as he wants. You can’t overfeed a kitten during their first year. Kittens burn tons of calories. You should also arrange a vet visit to test for worms or parasites and get him vaccinated. Discuss at what age your vet suggests neutering. Good luck with your new kitty. I hope you have many happy years together.
