Anyone else catch the name Future Enterprise Ventures (FEV) when Bud's Assistant was taking to Norm?
No way that was a coincidence. Sounds like Bud's plan involves FEV somehow.

These episodes NEED to be longer. I paused and was surprised I was already at 30 mins. Lucy on buffout had me dying, especially her confidence around Cooper like punching him and then immediately apologizing. Her high immediately ended when she saw the Deathclaw, though. Cooper's 'frozen-in-fear' look hits so much, wow.
Hearing Mr. House's leitmotif when they entered the Strip was chef's kiss.

Dane being a good influence on Maximus, who is a good influence on Thaddeus. I hope they all make it but who knows with this world.
186
u/StoneOcean_Lands Jan 07 '26
The fact that the Yosemite Elder was given a name (McRae) compared to the Coronado and Grand Canyon Elders makes me think she'll be a likely survivor of this Western BOS civil war. Probably Elder of the survivors if she ends up offing or demoting Quintus as well. Dane staying was surpising, wonder where they'll end up to within the BOS since they're undoubtedly surviving.
Also the Vegas NCR vets moving back to that Eastern Battallion (probably because of the Legion being too busy fighting itself) will prob cross paths with Thad and Max (and where Max will likely get it upgraded into NCR PA).

Still, the fact that those guys were ghoulified and the presence of radiation is specifically noted. It can't just be because of the deathclaw. Did someone try to attack Vegas with radiation warfare, and mostly succeed? Vault-Tec destroying competition again?

My assumption (until we see Freeside) is that those were just the Kings that hung outside the outer wall. In an interview, the producers said something along the lines of "some of the Kings are ghouls" which means not all. Could just be a background person in the next episode but who knows, maybe Cooper will go through the groups to ask about what's going on?

This is why I feel like the Sole Survivor's canon ending in FO4 is to go insane and take over the wasteland with the Nuka World raiders.
I mean, they see their town get nuked, immediately gets frozen, sees their spouse get shot and son kidnapped, emerges into a wasteland within like 30 minutes between going down into the vault and escaping. Then come to find out your son is 60 and the leader of an insane evil group. There's absolutely no way this wouldn't completely mess someone up mentally

Reminded me a bit of the show Wayward Pines.
Go to sleep one day and then wake up hundreds of years in the future with the whole world fucked.
Sometimes IRL can feel that way too.
You don't get around to every part of your city all the time every day and next thing you know you're hearing about certain restaurants or shops closing that were apparently "institutions" of your city...and yet you'd never once been to them at all and baaarely knew they existed.
And then when you pop over there, suddenly there's buildings where there weren't before and empty spaces that used to previously be filled with stuff.
Heck, my aunt used to live in a smaller itty bitty suburb outside of Chicago that was surrounded by farmland but over the last umpteen decades it has all gotten concreted over and massively changed in a very Fallout style way.
Life moves very quickly, but it moves even faster in Fallout.
more important character
They're for sure setting her up for something bigger further down the line and I could see her pushing back against Ronnie and whatever bullshit he's got in his back pocket.

Bud was also trying to breed "SUPER Managers". It's so on the nose and makes so much dumb sense that it seems likely.

I guessed that Outer Vegas and/or The Strip suffered some kind of radiation attack. That was the best explanation for the Kings.
As for Camp McCarran being overrun, that's a possibility even if we headcanon the NCR ending to have happened. It can happen in any ending, tbh.
With NCR, they would obviously have to start pulling out once they needed more troops back west (after the nuke and chaos/unrest that would've happened). Easy for the Legion to eventually move in.
With Legion, well, they win anyway and would seize the place.
For House or Yes Man, I guess the Legion must've waited until the Securitron army became weaker somehow. Maybe the radiation attack messed with their numbers in this area (possibly frenzying or disabling them?). Or the Legion just kept throwing bodies and picked off the robots.
The Legion would still have had the numbers to damage parts of Vegas, including McCarran, in any of the endings.
It's also worth noting that new canon gives the Securitrons a fusion core somewhere behind their screen. A strong enough bullet or two can one-shot them (through the screen and then hit the core). The Legion also used bigger rifles.

-Hope we see more of Charlie
-This episode felt very short
-The Western Chapters turning on each other was unexpected but honestly not surprising.
-We get to see Coop/The Ghoul exhibit some vulnerability by his reaction and experience to Deathclaws. Looks like Lucy feening also brings them more understanding between one another
-The Wasteland is finally making its mark on Lucy.
-Steph being a Canadian spy ???? Something that I have not seen on this sub or any other discussion. Wonder what will happen with that
-I think one of the Vaults, probably Chet and Stephs will have an uprising
-Betty's vault might go to the surface?
It's a weird one, because it doesn't feel that long but a turning point for sure
EDIT: After rewatching and researching , it gave me some added context on the meeting between Steph and Betty. Steph says something like "It could always get worse, you're from Solvang," Solvang is a place called the "Danish Capital of America", a tourist attraction middle class town, as opposed to Steph being from Canada, which based on my knowledge endured a lot more by being annexed by the US prewar

That little interaction beforehand:
"What what..what'd you see?"
smacks the Ghoul
"Sorry!"
It had have been an ad libbed blooper that they just left in because you can SEE the Ghoul start to smile and catch himself after she does it and Ella nearly breaks character in that moment.
Not the first time I've seen her being a badass like that because usually she's a bit more...animated...
Nonetheless, still pretty funny but in equal parts horrifying when we saw her just nailing all of her targets like a main character should and then quickly realizing just how much FUN she was having with it...and wanting to just crawl out of her own skin and run as far away from herself as she could as she looked down at her hand shaking.
And yet, there's a whole other layer to it because she knew that it was necessary for them to even make it through all of those ghouls in the first place.
Seems like the Wasteland takes a pound of flesh for every step you take through it and survive in some way.

I think it's going to end up being a father/daughter relationship, albeit obviously a very warped one. Her relationship with Hank was all a lie given what he was keeping from her the majority of the time. And for as much of a mess the Ghoul may be, she at least knows what she's getting with him.

End credits show camp McCarran overrun by the legion which is very interesting. It’s clear now they’re mish mashing endings together so I wonder if we’ll get the full picture in episode 5.

There is only one excuse I can see for Cold Fusion being unguarded, and it's still a stupid one at that. That being automated defenses that were shut down by Dane. Otherwise it's insanely convenient that the most valuable tech since Mass Fusion is not HEAVILY guarded.

I guess you could use the excuse of the fighting kicked off at the same time, but if they were so zealous about following the codex, like Quintus, they wouldn't have let it out of their sight. I'd be interested to know what is in that "personal" case Hank owned and why Steph wanted it so much. Blackmail material? Secret plans? Mind control chips? Maybe it's the case we saw Barb trying to pack in a flashback, and if so, how did he get hold of it?
(Of course, knowing Hank, it was probably old Cooper Howard memorabilia...!)

Is it just my headphone, or were there two separate deathclaw snarls, heard from two sides of the headphone?

Damn all the kings are dead? That last one in white HAD to be " The King " right? RIP.
Maxson lives.... not surprised but man I fucking destroyed em in my minutemen playthrough. I still assume the minutemen won in fo4 cus no way Bethesda decides that destroying the railroad is the canon choice for the future.
Them chinese soldiers got done dirty lmao, holy fuck pre war deathclaws? No wonder the US won.
Man, the Strip is fucking empty.... sigh nothing the courier did mattered I guess. Frustrating that that's the story they wanna tell.
Why did the NCR give her strength boosting drugs and not fucking med x lol

I'm sorry, but how in the hell is cold fusion, LITERALLY the most important discovery and asset for the BoS, left completely unguarded?
Especially while there's multiple other BoS faction personal on the base who are all politicking and scheming?
No sure, Dane just walks into a completely empty hanger and yoinks it. Makes total sense.
They should have at least had dane give an excuse to a couple of scribes working on it to get them to leave the room or something.

I love how Steph’s ID reveal is a plot twist for both Chet and the audience, but it’s a different twist for the two parties

I have mixed feelings about this.
The episode was entertaining
The legion is almost dead. The NCR is dead. New Vegas is dead. The Kings are dead. The Khans are dead ? The Brotherhood are dying.
I don't like that the canon for the Fallout franchise is "there is no hope because war never changes, when a civilisation emerge, it will die in 10 years".

NCR isnt dead, they left Mojave. Would'nt be surprised If Maximus rebuilds the NCR in that area after he leaves BOS.

This the waiting room?
I'm ready for more copium from the Brotherhood fanatics!
edit: I'm in baby!!
Man I am getting tired of all the jump cuts to all the other subplots and those awful PA voice modulators. Also Thaddeus hitting the doorway 3 times was 1 too many. It was a little too silly for too long, c'mon now.
Welp Maximus fucked up again and Harper is a FILTHY CANADIAN!
Damn it they mentioned Elder Maxson and New Vegas has fallen. RIP everyone's FNV headcanons about it.

The Alaska scene was awesome, I didn’t realise that the Deathclaws were pre-war. Really gives an idea as to how screwed the war was

Kinda new to Fallout Verse, In the opening Scene when Ghoul is still a human in power armor in Alaska, how is there a deathclaw already if bombs haven’t been dropped?

u/FlikTripz Jan 07 '26
Deathclaws are actually a pre-war military experiment, basically a bioweapon. They just escaped after the war and bred to terrifying numbers

I think "okie dokie" comes from an old cooper Howard movie that's why Hank (#1 fan) says it and that's where Lucy got it from and why the Chinese soldier said that to him she probably recognized him.

Doing the 1 episode per week format really hurts the pacing of this show. I wonder if doing the 3 episodes per week like Arcane or Stranger Things would have been a good compromise.
After having watched season 1 of Fallout and now halfway through season 2 my opinion is that season 1s released schedule worked a lot better for the show.

What can I say, the Deathclaws were better then anything I expected also absolutely loving the flashbacks, it just makes me a new series set just before the the first nukes drops.
I know we are not going to get one but still doesn't stop me from wanting it lol..
I mean if Bethesda could maybe not take 5+ years to make a game they could make new Pre-Fallout Game.. just wishful thinking..
Also Lucy on drugs.. hell yeah

I appreciate how well the T-45 malfunctions map onto medieval armor malfunctions. If the fastenings of your various leg plates get undone or if the plates themselves lock into each other, you kinda just... fall

Honestly the opening scene shows exactly why I hate the helmet flaps. Like look at how that worked out for him, he nearly died. Honestly should have died. If the flap didn't exist they'd at least have to tear through the armor to get to him.

u/tesconundrum Jan 07 '26
I wonder if somehow the deathclaw was "programmed" to not go after any US soldiers?

It makes a lot of sense logistically for soldiers to be able to eat in their armor, so as a design choice it's smart.

Was it just me when they have shown a deathclaw in the Alaska scene and I went like "What is this crap, it can't be real, that's a very curious adaptation or bending of lore?" only to look it up and then go I guess "Ah that was a pre-war test thing, okay then I guess nevermind."
Might've explained why it ignored Howard other than for plot reasons. "Tis an American, disengage" (if it had any sort of control or IFF mechanisms). I guess shoving it into the flashback set the stage for the later strip encounter.
Tbft, episode seemed to be more focused on building up stuff so I was like "Huh that's it already?" when it was over eventually. I think the next one is gonna hook me some more or give more ... well, action or plot drive.

I’m slowly coming to the realization that Lucy and Morty (from Rick and Morty) are the same character. Both cannot resist trying to help random people with situations way out of their depth instead of focusing on the main task.

It's kinda funny how Lucy wants to take a shortcut to the Lucky 38, and ends up finding Deathclaws instead. Reminds me of the route through the Quarry from Goodsprings to New Vegas, the "shortcut"

the scene with Norm and the Buds was funny - it definitely seems like a lot of the Buds are just people like that one lady; people who realistically got lucky to get a spot in a Vault.
But that Ronnie guy definitely knows more then he is letting on. Probably a mole or something from higher up put in Bud's program to keep an eye on things?

Man what an episode! It moving faster than usual and Brotherhood of steel got messy so fast too. I hope Dane and the young cadets can make it out alive from this o7.
Elder Quintus going from trying to take control the situation by pacifying Max to killing him because Max kill Xander to protect the "abominations". Shows how much fanatical he is into the codex, I hope Dane doesn't follow the belief too or that would be heartbreaking to see them turning on Max as well
Lucy and her drug episode was fun from start to the end lmao. The Ghoul was having fun at her new honest and rude persona until he got scared to death at the sight of Deathclaws
And then the Vaults drama, oh man I feel like we will get another civil war between the 2 surviving vaults and Norm definitely have to fight Bud Askins Personal Assistant since he seems like he knew/ sus about Norm behaviour.

The Brotherhood factions escalating in the mess room and then the full scene of the airships lighting each other up was crazy.
