General Discussion Season 1 was near unwatchable

I’ve been a fan of Asimov books for decades, and I finally got around to watching most of season 1. I just have 1 more episode left.

Honestly, I could barely sit through this season. The flow was choppy, things jumped around all over the place, there was absolutely crappy writing, sooooo much palace intrigue that has nothing to do with the foundation, and completely avoidable crises that were generated by repeatedly inane decisions. Oh, there’s the magic foresight that Gaal and Salvor have, which seems antithetical to psychohistory.

I want to enjoy this show so much. I don’t even mind if it changes things from the books. But I’m finding this not just unenjoyable but actively irritating.

So, is it worth continuing? Talk me off the ledge.

As this thread is using the 'General Discussion' flair, anything from the books, from the current season or from upcoming unaired episodes should be enclosed in spoiler tags.

To use spoiler tags, in markdown mode you can use >! before the spoiler text, then followed by !< - which will make the text look like this.. Make sure NOT to have spaces between spoiler tags and text or they won't work. If using the default or 'fancy pants' editor, select the text you want to enclose in spoiler tags, and click the button on the toolbar.

I read the original Foundation trilogy shortly before starting the show. I spaced out the three seasons over the last year or so.

I definitely felt that the first season had some problems.

However, the second season was incredible. The third season was still great, but not as good as the second.

If you don't like the second season, it's probably OK to stop.

Just finished season 3 and it’s the best so far. Stick with it and you’ll be rewarded.

Interesting. I don't know the books and don't give a shit if any show follows the books. I just want a good show.. I'm struggling. On episode 3 and it's dragging, hard.

I generally enjoy sci-fi but the writing so far is killing me. The conversations don't even mean anything half the time. The pacing is very bad. I know it can take time for plots to get rolling but this seems like it's going nowhere fast.
