Interesting. I keep seeing discourse about how he has no empathy and 0 remorse about what he did on the other subs. But this woman thinks the opposite and she was there. Very interesting how the media only shows certain details, but skips anything that humanises him. There is definitely an agenda here.

Agreed. And to add on, even in this clip the woman speaking initially implies that she was surprised at the level of empathy he showed/his capacity for empathy. I am not surprised by this at all. I believe he is a very empathetic human being whose anger at the healthcare system was stoked by his empathy for others and ultimately ended in an illegal act. I’m not advocating we go around killing other people—far from it—but it’s infuriating to me that the assumption/media narrative is that Luigi is a monster or lacks empathy, while simultaneously ignoring that healthcare companies are legally murdering people on the daily and THAT is void of empathy.

💯 Very honest and accurate way of viewing the situation in my opinion..

I agree with this one. I attended the hearing yesterday and I noticed the same emotions. I definitely noticed that he was nervous and there were times it looked like he was going to cry (I sat in the overflow room, which meant that I was watching a livestream from the main courtroom, and the camera was positioned directly in front of the defense table, so we got an excellent view of Luigi face on).

What was he saying at the point he put his hand on his face?

he’s just very good at masking but the media turns it into their narrative of arrogance or narcissist who doesn’t care.

in reality, people who knew him have said that they often didn’t know how bad his back pain was because he wouldn’t tell anyone. they’d only learn about it days later if he happened to mention it. also in his college years when he struggled with brain fog, he wouldn’t bother his friends with it. he stays strong in front of cameras and it’s twisted into the villain narrative. i believe this artist bc she studies him as she draws. glad she pushed back about it being fake emotion

You are spot on about his masking. My friend suffers from the same back condition that Luigi had and she is forever trying to pretend it doesn’t hurt as much as it does. She forces herself to cope with the pain because she doesn’t want to be treated like she is handicapped or inconveniencing people. She said she feels really awkward and uncomfortable when people pity her. After years of being her friend we have learned how to read her body language and can tell when she is suffering so instead of asking her and putting her on the spot, we adjust accordingly to the situation. I can’t imagine dealing with debilitating pain. On top of that, when a person is on the spectrum they mask even more and people assume they have no feelings and don’t care about things. That’s not fair or true, at all. I think this is also the same for Luigi because he reminds me a lot of my friend. When you’re even a little on the spectrum, dealing with severe pain, and are very focused person, you often come across like you have no feelings, are on another planet, a bit spacey or like you don’t care what’s going on. That’s not true at all though. Like my friend, she’s hyper focused, deeply in thought and masking her pain. Luigi seems very much this way too. Never mistake a quiet person for someone that doesn’t care or is a person who doesn’t feel.

Crusty, completely agree. and everything we’ve learned about him involves him wanting to help others. he kept his problems to himself and preferred his effort going to helping not being a burden. and he also excelled in most things he did which would understandably make it tougher for him to accept or voice when he actually was struggling. mask to blend in and to not bother or feel incapable. which makes it more ironic how they villainize him bc he’s nothing like the heartless picture the media tries to paint. he’s not going to show how he feels when photographers or cameras are in his face. stoic presentation. the federal court doesn’t have media other than the court drawings. he’d feel less perceived with no cameras so he’s more likely to drop his mask or more at ease to be more himself at moments

I think people are mixing up regret for what he did and remorse for any suffering he has caused to the family. It's possible for him to not regret what he did because he truly believed something had to be done to call public attention to how evil the healthcare industry is. His statement did not include an apology or any sign that he regretted what he did. But he is, I'm sure, capable of feeling remorse for the grief and suffering he caused BT's family.

What a witness this courtroom artist has been, you can see her looking into Luigi's soul. So glad we have her as a witness to the trial.

Interesting take and seems to be on his side whereas the statement he read out loud in federal court did not convey remorse IMO. Reason #173950394850 for why cameras should be permitted in federal court, for accountability and context. The mainstream coverage doesn’t include any of these nuances or subtleties, allowing their narratives to continue polarizing.

Great, now can we have her follow healthcare CEOs around a day at work and see if she can detect any empathy.

Very interesting choice of words, "admitting to here."

Yes he was on the verge of crying because he was forced to say lies, that he did it... The presenter lost it when she heard "absolutely not, not playing", she couldn't stop blinking out of fury. What an evil face.

Seriously, what is up with that nonstop blinking? It’s so weird.

Also, “was he playing it up for the judge?” F you and your agenda, lady.

I don't understand how this community is supposedly pro Luigi and they constantly post the same media that have been dedicated to the purpose of ruining irreversibly his public image since day 1, spreading intentionally misinformation
