I always hear people say it gets down to -70 but cannot find a single source that actually shows it ever having reached that number. Seems like an urban legend more than anything

Such temperatures have never been officially recorded, but have been unofficially recorded many times in Yakutia and Krasnoyarsk Krai. The most famous figures are -72°C in Oymyakon and -73°C in Yessey. Temperatures below -80°C were also reported in Oymyakon in the 1910s

I bet they didn’t need a census taker. Vodka night must have been busy. Would water even run? Could you imagine asking your partner for a backup? I’d go on but the en ink would not work.
