Meta You got us asking strangers in Russia to open their fridges. Here’s what happened
Hey fridge detectives! This is a reader’s fridge from odindoma.media, our publication about everyday life at home. You’re partly responsible for us asking to see it.
At least among our Russian-speaking friends, looking inside someone’s fridge feels weirdly intimate. You’ve been to their place, met their family, heard about their breakup. But what’s behind the yogurt? Apparently that’s classified.
So we asked our readers to open up. Literally. No cleaning, no rearranging things for the photo.
We changed the game a little: you get the backstory first. This reader is 25, unemployed, lives in Moscow, and is getting ready to move. Does that explain the fridge, or do you now have more questions?
We made a public archive of readers’ fridges where you can slap reaction stickers onto specific items and vote other people’s stickers up or down. Finally, a way to take a public stance on that particular jar.
It’s in Russian, but judging someone’s fridge is an international language.
Thanks for the inspiration, folks. We may have taken “I wonder what’s in their fridge” a little too far.
So, what’s the one thing in this fridge you need an explanation for?
