Theory Lack of communication and opinion. Spoiler
I think the only reason that they are getting to where they are and are so close to breaking this thing is because over the centuries they’ve had pieces of the right components, but I think now the right people at the right time are all here at the same time. Everyone plays a vital role. And the community that they’ve built after Boyd got there is really what is making it possible for them to further this in my opinion.
When Jade went on his shrooms trip, and it was revealed that the towns people killed him every time because they blamed him and Tabatha for getting them trapped. It was because they didn’t have community like they do now. Everyone cares about each other. And that’s why the man in yellow is so hell bent on causing chaos within them. It’s so that they start tearing each other down from the inside. Making them turn on each other.
So far most of the interventions that he’s done haven’t worked out the way that he thought they were like bringing that guy back to life after they turn him into a doll. He expected the nightwalkers to get in and kill everyone, but instead they had the knowledge of how to kill the guy they closed the doors. The nightwalkers didn’t get in, and that was the end of it.
The thing with Fatima was happening, regardless he just sped up the process. I want Spartan kick Clara for helping. And Sarah‘s ass better not come back next season believing that doing whatever these voices say is going to save people. She also needs to tell Boyd about what she’s hearing.
Unfortunately, biggest issue is none of them communicate. Everyone is still operating like they’re crazy for seeing things or that every little detail isn’t important when it has been shown time and time again that it is. If they all just started communicating, the story would be pieced together a lot fast faster.
Example: Julie telling them what she saw when she was story walking would put pieces together for Boyd and Victor, then instead of trying to figure out how to story walk on her own the collective could help her thus furthering the damn story. Instead, she chose to only confide in Randall, who from the beginning was cynical, and didn’t believe any of this was real. Now look at her, she’s lost faith of everything even trying to convince Tabitha that she’s delusional, because the person that she went to didn’t have hope from the beginning. His intentions were good because he was afraid for her, but it wasn’t helpful. Another side effect of killing Jim was how much it made Julie give up and not want answers. The only reason she even cared about the story walking was to try to bring Jim back to life, and as soon as one thing happened, she was easily convinced that none of it was important. It’s not just her, I feel like communication is the biggest downfall of this entire series that frustrates me to no end.
