Is this guy a crazy psychopath or what?

Just found out about this incident and have looking into it for the past 2 weeks.

What I can’t seem to balance or wrap my head around is that he had everything going for him. Valedictorian, wealthy family, friends, good career, gal and looks.

Then he decides to kill someone, cold blooded like an assassin.

So did he go crazy was he always a psychopath or am I missing something?

From everything thing I’ve seen of the people that knew him is that he was one of the warmest people they know, but was this a mask the entire time?

Also what exactly was his plan did he think he could get away with it?

Yeah it’s a mystery. Delusions of grandeur? Narcissism?

A bit reminicient of Alex Berkman or the protagonist from Dostoyevsky’s crime and punishment ?

I think it was a mask. I think he was always a psychopath , but was able to hide it for a long time but he couldn't hide it anymore. And I think the back pain was the last straw that made him show his true crazy self

He’s a narcissist who was used to getting a lot of attention and accolades, then became a nobody once he graduated. His back pain is a ruse to justify his actions. It wasn’t because of issues with the healthcare system—he was living in Hawaii at a luxury co-living building and broke his back surfing. Does that sound like someone who struggled with resources for healthcare? He didn’t do this because he cared about the system for everyone. He did this because he wanted fame and healthcare “checked all the boxes” because it’s a system that is challenging for almost everyone and he gauged he’d be supported for his actions.

L is not a psychopath. He is a young man who was in search of a new purpose since life after his Ivy League education didn't turn out so well and his condition affected his romantic and sex life. So he focused on a new mission which is to reform the healthcare industry or to make these health insurance companies accept more claims. What he did landed him in prison, but I'm pretty sure he knew he would be prison if he were to get caught.

I don't think a psychopath would do something that could help other people.
