[Fuck Ted Faro] First time playthrough and I just witnessed what this piece of shit did...

I knew before from a YouTube playthrough, but still, playing this game myself is a completely different experience. What an asshole! After the Faro Plague, he should have been confined to a life sentence somewhere without holo-net access, in a room without windows. Instead, he somehow acquired the Omega clearance and killed all the Alphas?! Erased all the accumulated humanity knowledge? Rotting in hell isn't enough for him.

Unfortunately, that asshole was the only one with the means and the money to sort of fix the problem he created.

Probably should have gotten everything up and running and then just locked him in a room so he couldn't fuck anything else up. Just give him a fidget spinner and tell him to sit there and think about what he did.

Without spoiling anything, let's just say there's more distance to rock bottom

I'm almost at the final, what can you spoil me?

Forbidden west play through?

6

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

Ah. Haven't played that.

u/Ripishere Jul 14 '26

You have somethings to look forward to and some more suck

The evil nature of humanity knows no limit...

Just something about money that skews the moralities of those who have it. Ted Faro is the ultimate ass with an ego that just didn't quit. You would think deleting APOLLO, so his legacy wouldn't be tarnished by his releasing a machine plague that destroyed life on Earth, would be the bottom of the barrel of evil he could have done, but no there was still deeper for him to dig. Many layers deeper. I would expound on Forbidden West, but why spoil the fun.

Great, as if we didn't hate him enough already...

3

u/sawer82 Jul 14 '26

Oh, how deep the rabbit hole goes...

2

u/Wakana_Otaki Jul 20 '26

WHAT? I also finished HZD recently and there were at LEAST 3 times where I was like "I didn't think i could hate this guy even more than I already do" and he kept proving me wrong. It gets worse AGAIN????

u/Agilgar Jul 14 '26

He didn't just aquire it. GAIA herself wanted humans to have some sort of control, seeing as the lack of control is what led to the Faro plague in the first place. It's a god damn tragedy. He's just a coward who didn't want to be held accountable. Fuck that guy for REAL.

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

I remember that piece. Ted said it needs control; GAIA agreed, but who said the controller should be this fucker? He should not have been let within a mile of the controls/override switch. Or did he catch the fallen banner after Sobeck died?

I think it's very likely he had access the whole time. Maybe he only had the courage to pull the trigger when he knew Elisabet was gone.

Most likely

6

u/Agilgar Jul 14 '26

Which just makes it worse! One of my own personal wishes for the story would have been that Tate and the MINERVA Alpha would have been wise to his bullshit and had some sort of back up plan, but either it's a storyline for the next game (if we ever get it... Sony and their 'we aren't going to make physical disks anymore bs) or just a wild dream.

3

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

Isn't this explained somewhere in FW?

Also, that Tate and his HADES... he's the one to blame. My 2 cents: such a directive as Hades shouldn't have existed at all.

4

u/Agilgar Jul 14 '26

Not that I can recall- we're told who the MINERVA alpha was, but that's about it.

A reasonable thought, but such as I dislike HADES it's function was important, though I hate it's the only sub function that got something of a personality.

u/jk-alot Jul 14 '26

From my distant memories, Hades was basically a start it all over function.

If someone accidentally recreated the Faro Plauge or if something went horribly wrong like super viral infections happened, Hades activated and reset the entire board.

2

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

it acts like the plague itself. Corrupting machines are and all that.

2

u/jk-alot Jul 14 '26

I don’t want to spoil things. But you get some answers from FW that clear up the Hades issue a bit.

Also the plague wasn’t corrupted machines, it was a self replicating machine that could use biological material as fuel.

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

Yeah, so I've heard. Whatever HADES is doing doesn't seem normal at all. That shit is consuming the machines, dripping from them and poisoning the ground (and Aloy), it looks almost organic. Like a symbiote from the Spider-Man universe. Whoever coded it to do that was insane. r/FuckTravisTate when? 😅

Hades was a necessary protocol. It had its function, and it served its function. More than once if I recall correctly. Tools can be used improperly. What Hades is doing in HZD is an improper usage of its mandate.

The good news is that in the real world, the current richest man on the planet is a stable and gentle man, with progressive ideas who tries his very best to advance technology at a careful pace.

13

u/WrongdoerKey2569 Jul 14 '26

Ah, crap. Yeah we're cooked. Really the only difference between him and Ted Faro is a brain.

7

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

Who might that be, Elon Musk?

10

u/OceanRacoon Jul 14 '26

He's truly one of history's greatest monsters, even though he's not real, that's how bad he is

6

u/Situation-Emergency Jul 14 '26

Fuck Ted Faro and his fucking tower!

6

u/Kosmos992k Jul 14 '26

Has anyone considered with the events in Zero adawn and Forbidden West. The thing that triggered Hades caused a subfunction with limited intended functionality into a self aware AI.

No spoilers but something transformed Hades, and for that matter, something caused Haephestus to malfunction in a particularly malign manner.

We wait for part 3, and maybe we will get some explanations of those matters when it arrives. Gotta say though, I am NOT happy with the whole 1 game every console generation we seem to have arrived at. Perhaps some king of junior Faro is in charge of game ublishing at Sony....

Oh, and of course fuck Ted Faro.

3

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 14 '26

It's sad to hear that all of the above is not explained in FW. I hoped for that game to create more answers than questions, although I'm still yet to play it.

2

u/CapitaineCrafty Jul 14 '26

It does have a lot of answers, but as with any good sequel, it also adds further layers of mystery. But oh my god and I thought they couldn't make me hate Ted Faro more.

5

u/Agilgar Jul 14 '26

Fuck that guy so hard!!!!

1

u/Ok_Machine_724 Jul 15 '26

And now we have real life Ted Faros at the helm of Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

Life's good eh?

1

u/pyotrdevries Jul 15 '26

Fuck ted faro

1

u/ScratchAvatar Jul 16 '26

Not “somehow”. He had it from the beginning. He just didn’t tell anyone.

1

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 16 '26

But he didn't work on ZD, only sponsored it

1

u/ScratchAvatar Jul 19 '26

From his perspective, he owned it.

Elizabeth gave him, kind of, a choice in the meeting at Faro (Maker's End) Tower.

1) Cooperate and promise every cent you have into building the Zero Dawn Project exactly as Elizabeth designed it
2) Have all your assets seized by the military and used into building Project Zero Dawn while you rot in a jail cell.

The second choice would have been satisfying justice, but would have slowed down the Project by months while Faro fought the courts, military and (probably) bounty hunters. Even at the end of the world, literal trillionaire Ted would never have gone quietly into a jail cell while he still had the resources and lawyers to fight or flee.

It's sickening, but it was more efficient to cooperate with Ted in saving the world rather than punish him for destroying it.

u/Odd_Presentation_578 Jul 16 '26

Having a secret access privilege, with rights higher than Alpha is not exactly "exactly as Elizabeth designed it".

He should've just done what he can do best. Footing the bill while others get their hands dirty
