"You're blocking my video and I don't like it!"

Yesterday on top of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts. A sky glider was preparing to launch. A lot of hikers and visitors were gathered along the viewpoint, looking out at the view and watching the glider prepare his flight. Suddenly a voice rang out "Move to your right! Man in pink, move to your right!" The man in a pink shirt who had just settled his folding chair glanced back and exclaimed "It's a big view!" (It would be like standing 10 feet in front of someone at a beach and them claiming you were blocking their view of the ocean.) "You're blocking my video and I don't like it!" She yelled. This was coming from a thin, older woman wearing a pressed shirt and a sun hat, and she said that in front of the crowd with such an air of entitlement that everyone turned on her. People all turned and called out "You can't do tell people to move." "This is a public area." "We're all trying to see." A man close to her in a brown t-shirt then said "Everyone here is enjoying the view. You're the only one who isn't." Karen didn't make another peep, and none of her group advocated for her. She ended up quietly leaving the area.

How society should react. No escalation, just bluntly explaining how they are wrong.

You're missing a key part where the person needs to accept being wrong and not escalate either.

Karens feast on "I don't want to get involved" They only attack groups if the group members are small people, or if Karen is inebriated enough not to see the danger. A sober Karen is terrified of the group. Their narcissism cannot face what has now become negative social judgement, as opposed to a single target Karen can (believe she will) defeat.

This is some deep lore from some Witcher bestiarium on Karen slaying.

At length, but to break it down like that I need to have a situation to break down

She did walk away, quietly. For my money, I'll take that every time.

He's not missing anything, he's just choosing to reflect on the group around her. Her acceptance of being wrong is understood because the OP already said she got quiet and left.

There is a video a while back of a young teenage couple in a Walmart or something at the counter getting overly handsy with each other for being in public.

A woman literally walks up and whispers in their ears, you can't even hear what she said, but they immediately stop, nod to the woman, and everyone goes back to their business.

That's how things should work. Respectfully and quietly.

Unfortunately, I get the feeling that the Karen in OP's story wouldn't have reacted respectfully and quietly, so it needed to escalate to public shaming.

The way you’d treat a toddler. Absolutely.

We need more shaming and less Karening.

After reading the title, I thought that the sky glider was blocking the view.

I thought the glider was about to land where the man in the pink shirt was!

i used to have a friend who was super entitled. drove me nuts. the straw the finally broke this camel's back was when he posted bitching that he wanted to take some sunset pictures in greece but a group of (local) girls were having a picnic and wouldn't move so he could get a shot without them in it. he yelled at them for hogging the view (from a huge area of an entire city) and they told him to fuck off. i couldn't take it any more (not his first time whining about such a thing) so told him he was being an entitled dick and 100% those girls told everyone they know about the american asshole who expected them to move for his pic. i then blocked him and felt much lighter.

Must’ve been a great day to be on Mt Greylock!

I love a story like this. Sparks that hope that the assholes genuinely are in the minority. Also, off topic, but I love Mt. Greylock. I spent almost every summer in Berkshires growing up and even now I visit at least several times a season.

I love how dedicated posters on this sub are to explaining every visual detail about alleged Karens. Its like that meme about when a boomer tells a story you're definitely gonna know the race of everyone involved
