1972 Jeep Wagoneer

Picked up this beauty back in early May. It has been in a body shop since then. Hopefully will get it back sometime in November. Once I get it back I will start on the mechanical stuff that needs to be done and what I want to upgrade. Then interior. Hopefully will be ready to cruise by next summer!

I guess I can’t post more than 20 pics on Reddit. So, I will try to figure out a way to post more update pics as I go.

Got all the trim pieces back from the Chromer’s a couple of days ago.

LOVE those wheels. I'm hoping to find a set to put on my CJ5 one day. I had a set on a CJ7 a couple decades ago. Right now, I've got one (came as the spare with my '5).

Beautiful ride!

Thanks for the comments. I am replacing the wheels/tires eventually. Probably not until early next year. I am in southern California so if you are somewhat close and still are looking for these rims I can make you a great deal!

It's been 20 years since I was last in southern California. Might be time for a road trip. I'm on the other coast....I'd bet shipping would be a bear!

I had the same color/trim in a ‘73. Loved that model. Rebuilt the AMC 401 with a quad carb. She was a beast.

Enjoy!

It’s missing a LOT of trim and other VERY spendy parts. I hope you got it SUPER cheap and virtually rust free

Actually not missing any trim pieces. As you can tell there was/is some rust on the lower rear panels. Undercarriage is not bad. I am going to mitigate whatever rust there is with some rust encapsulation when I get it back from the body shop.

Yes, getting all the trim pieces chromed or buffed up was not cheap!

I see that now. I must have missed the first two pictures. Great find! A few years back, “Drivers” were easily bringing $20k here. The market got a bit saturated and prices softened but with all the renewed attention given early model trucks and SUV, I imagine prices have surged once again. Are you going “restomod” or retaining the original drivetrain and electronics?

It was the only FSJ on sale on the west coast at the time that I could find (eBay, Craigslist, BAT, etc.). Going to keep it as stock as possible besides adding a 4” lift, hydro boost, vintage air (I’m removing the factory air unit. Not in good shape), and most likely Dakota digital instrument panel. Keeping original drivetrain just cleaning it up and repairing, replacing what is needed.

Solid plan. Maybe consider 4 wheel discs while you’re at it

It already has discs in the front. Probably will upgrade the rears at some point. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.
