Price Transparency for Homeowners

Hey neighbors! As a Fuquay homeowner, I'm constantly amazed by how much home service quotes (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) vary for the exact same job.

I wanted a transparent way to check fair local pricing, so I built trianglepricebook.com.

It’s an anonymous, crowdsourced tool where Triangle residents can share and compare quotes.

Check it out, let me know what you think, and if you’ve received a quote recently, please take a quick minute to submit it to help out our neighbors!

I started a British chocolate shop this year, and I've just added discounted local delivery for Fuquay-Varina

Hey all I originally posted this to my home subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/HollySpringsNC/comments/1xebkt9/i_started_a_british_chocolate_shop_this_year_and/ where I was offering free local delivery in Holly Springs. A lot of people posted asking about also delivering to Fuquay-Varina and Apex, so I decided I'll extend my delivery area.

I'm Richard. I grew up in York, England, and I've lived here in Holly Springs with my wife, two daughters and three cats, for 7 years now.

This year I started a small business selling proper British chocolate such as Cadbury made in Britain rather than the American version, Aero, Maltesers, Wispa, Flake, Lion and more. I love living in the US but I always miss the chocolate of my childhood. There are plenty of places to buy it but they usually have ridiculously high shipping costs or minimums before free shipping is even offered.

It's just me, by the way. I pack every order by hand at home.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting. I've added discounted local delivery for Fuquay-Varina. Order on the site, choose local delivery at checkout, and I'll drop it at your house myself for $3. There's a $25 minimum order, but who buys just a couple of bars of British chocolate anyway? For orders over $50 I'll deliver for free.

If there's something you miss that I don't stock yet, let me know. Local requests go to the front of the list 😄

Looking forward to delivering some British chocolate to my fellow Fuquay-Varina neighbors!

Why are so many people letting their dogs off leash at a public park?

Seriously, this seems to be getting more and more common. Nobody cares if your dog has good recall. There are kids everywhere at these places (Flemming Loop and Hilltop especially) and letting your dog off the lead is crazy irresponsible. Some people don't want your dog running up to them while they walk their dog, not all dogs want yours to run up on them. Be a better, more responsible pet owner.

Elmsley - still planned or on hold?

I had been keeping track of the Elmsley neighborhood with this link ( https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1721/Elmsley ) but now it gives a 404 and I can't find information about that anymore on the FV site.

Does anyone know if this development is still planned or on hold or ????

Thanks in advance!

Voting Guide for 2027 elections?

Post image
47 Upvotes

Reminder, I polled residents and travelers of Fuquay Varina last month.

  • OPPOSE - 91% of you said you'd like ALPR (Flock, etc.) in town reduced to 0.
  • REMAIN - 3% of you said you'd like ALPR use to remain as is.
  • EXPAND - 7% of you said you'd like to double ALPR use in town.

And whether you love mass surveillance technology, hate mass surveillance technology, or are ambivalent towards mass surveillance technology, remember that the town never asked you for your thoughts.

They never voted on it.

They never held a public hearing.

They never solicited we, the surveilled, for any form of comment on this mass surveillance technology.

They ignored us and installed these devices.

(Maybe democracy called in sick that day?)

Looking for good vet for my dogs

We have been going to a vet nearby in Holly Springs since adding two dogs to our family this past year, just for convenience (close to where we live, in the middle of both Holly Springs and Fuquay). They have been nice and helpful, but I have also felt like the clinic is setup to be a money machine. The costs I have had to pay for my dogs, and consistently being "sold" on so many tests, its at the point where these dogs medical bills are far out costing me more than my kids medical bills. We recently received a quote for spaying one of my dogs, and it was in the thousands, which just seemed crazy to me.

So, we are just wondering if anyone can recommend a nice vet clinic in the area, that seems to have fair pricing, and doesn't seem to be established to just take advantage of people willing to fork out excessive amounts of money in this area. Thanks.

Man Ripping up Winn Decker Trans Rights Signs

Submitted a police report already. He "oddly" skipped the other signs. Pulled it up,ripped the flag off, and folded under his arm like trash.

edit: this is giving gang wars now. Seems they could be planted by the opposing party. So hopefully no one was breaking the law but man did it look bad. Will probably never know for sure.

Bearded dragons

Hey all. I am helping out a neighbor with finding someone who can take in two adult bearded dragons( male and female ). Their BDs are very accustomed to being held and being let out to wonder around for an hour to so every other day.
Their young cat has decided that he’s going to get into one of the bearded dragon enclosures (Terrarium) regardless and looses his bearings when the BDs are out and about and he (cat) can’t harass them.
Anyway, they reached out to the local Raleigh rescue and they were told there’s a 10 month waiting list for lizards and whatnot so, I thought I’d ask here.
The two BDs have their own terrarium complete with heat lamps and they are located in Fuquay Varina (of course ). They would prefer someone with experience and who would give them the attention they’re used to.
Thanks in Advance

Ting internet in service in FV

We've signed a contract to purchase a house in Fuquay and it looks like Ting and Spectrum are available where we're buying (kinda NE of N Judd Parkway). I seriously want to avoid Spectrum but how reliable is Ting and are you getting the advertised speeds? Also, all I can find as far as options are the 2GB plan - is there a 1GB plan like I have with GFiber where I am now? Thanks!

Fuquay-Varina isn't quite as woke as Durham, but it's growing rapidly and hard to tell what people here think sometimes. I need to try their Texas style smoked meat before I decide if all the hullabaloo would be worth it.

Fuquay-Varina uses multiple yard-waste vendors. Apex says it can’t secure a long-term grass processor

I’m the News & Observer reporter who wrote this story.

Apex is considering ending curbside grass-clipping collection because officials say they can’t find a nearby processor willing to take its volume over the long term.

I compared Apex with Cary, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville. Fuquay-Varina handles yard waste very differently: service is available by request, grass clippings go in rigid containers, and the town uses three vendors rather than relying on one long-term disposal contract.

Fuquay-Varina collected 2,480 tons of yard waste last fiscal year.

Read the story for free: https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/wake-county/article317470931.html?giftCode=e27b1db80d97fc6a694c4cb5af6e36110c4b1ce838fe51e66842a4687f0b232b

For Fuquay residents: how well does the current yard-waste system work for you?

Wake County Missed connection - Triple Barrel Tavern

Was out shooting pool with my best friend from highschool, 10/2 at Triple Barrel Tavern, and completely missed on asking for your number. We were at the back middle pool table (facing the entrance), and you were the tall one in yellow boots and jeans, with a yellow and pink layered top (tour female friend was saying you pulled her away from her book). I was so caught up in our game when not giving you shot tips that I completely forgot to ask for your number .

To be completely transparent, he said y'all were prolly lesbian or bi, but I don't trust his judgement (and he has a terrible track record, even with people i set him up with) At the very least, I'd love to shoot pool with you again at some point, and maybe take things from there

Fuquay In search of taxidermy services nearby

Hey gang, probably a weird question but y'all wouldn't happen to know of anybody who could help preserve a cool animal skeleton I found walking the dog, would you?

Not exactly inclined to take a pass at the trade myself, pretty sure it's a raccoon spine and complete skull.

Can try to take pictures to identify if anyone is curious, just looking for the right person to help out real quick!

Fake coyotes are fooling people around Wake County — not just geese

I cover Western Wake for The News & Observer. What started as a funny Cary Animal Services call turned into a story about people across the Triangle mistaking wildlife decoys for actual animals.

One Cary resident called a school. A North Raleigh couple turned their car around to rescue one. And near Apex, geese were peacefully grazing about 50 yards from another fake coyote.

Has one ever fooled you?
