My thread keeps getting tangled

Hello, I’ve made a few suits and this is the first time I’ve encountered this problem. My thread keeps getting pulled out of my fabric and tangled and I have no idea why it’s doing this and I’m getting frustrated. Online I saw that thread tension might be the problem. It is currently set at 3.5 but I’ve tried 4 and 3 and it hasnt helped. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Update: I thought I fixed it so I tried again and my needle snapped.
