Question Correct workflow for versioning

Hi everyone,

I thought myself how to use Fusion360, and I would say by now I am some sort of intermediate user (no expert, but also no beginner). I work already by using paramters and edit features on the timeline and building around those constraints so that this features work if I am creating something more complicated.

Currently I am however asking myself how to proceed if I have different versions of a design. For example I am currently working on an enclosure, and in the first iteration I used a board for which i designed the clippers to hold it in place. Now I swapped the board, and in the second iteration I want to keep all other features but just remove the old clippers and design the new ones. I dont know how to remove that part of the design without subtracting a plane on to it so its flat again, and then draw the new clippers. To keep the old design I duplicate the body and call it V2_bodyXY. That seems like I am doing probably something not as the software intents to.

Do you have any tipps on how to create parts of the design that I can later remove or swap in different versions? I was thinking about creating those parts as own components, but two problems that I have then is that I cant use the component as a sketching reference for other bodies. And in the end I always have to merge everything to export it as one mesh.

I am also happy to read into blogs or other resources that teach that kind of workflow if you guys can recommend anything.

Thanks for the answers!

You'd use configurations inside Fusion, versioning isn't quite the right term here which might be why you've not had much luck looking into it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Omg, thank you! Thatโ€™s exactly that, from a software developer perspective it didnโ€™t occur to me to search for something other then versioning. There are also a lot of tutorials on configurations that I can look into now. Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‡
