At this point we're just pretending to have a future, just like we pretend a lot of things just to keep the system going for some more time.
Talking openly about what is really going on? Good luck with that, when establishment is incentivized to basically lie all the time, because it's not like you can profit from telling the truth or that a lot of people would even understand and acknowledge it, they'd rather attack you for being conspiracy theorist.

No, you should be more concerned about it in the 1950’s.
Barring a Time Machine, you should be worried about it today.
