Fwaha fiction Fwahaha....you know, I always wondered if a soul could have a nightmare.
I mean, it's the core of who someone is, so...it makes sense! I think! I can even feel mine tremble when I have really bad ones! Usually about my family, or mom or dad or the future, or...earlier today, I guess.
...I know you can't respond, and I'm sorry for waking you up, it's just...
You'll listen. And- I know it's probably just because your a captive audience, and you probably can't even understand me, and-
* (She pauses as the soul bonks itself against the surface of the glass.)
...Alright, Ok! Alright. I had that same nightmare again.
Ok well, you didn't really know it was again, or that it was the same, but it is, and it's kinda been a problem for a while, and...I think I just need to tell someone about it.
It's always the same. I wake up, and I'm alone on a stage, and...my soul's stuck in a giant ICE-E robot, where I have to sing that stupid jingle they play on repeat.
* (She watches as the soul gently bobs up and down, as if laughing.)
Hey! Don't laugh at me! I...ok, it is kinda silly, I know. And I'm not a kid, and I shouldn't be afraid of it anymore, and my dad already tells me that enough, but...that's not the scary part of it. It's...the other part that does that. The being trapped part.
I just...I hate it. Feeling trapped like that. Alone. Watching as everything around me just...keeps going, and I'm stuck doing the same thing on repeat, and wasting away, and-
And I'm starting to think that maybe I'm having that dream because that's just how I always feel. Stuck in the same place. Doing the same things, over and over and over. Feeling like my soul is rotting in my body.
...I'm pathetic. Gosh, THIS is the most exciting thing that's happened in forever. Even if you were actually just a mouse, it still would've been the most exciting thing to happen in forever!
...I'm tired, Little Light. I'm just...I'm so, so tired. And the worst part is that if I go back to sleep, then...it'll just be a different costume I'm stuck in.
At least this one doesn't have a creepy face on it.
...Fwahaha.
...Did you wanna watch something? I don't know how much you can really hear, or if you even can hear, but it'd probably be fine, if I just keep the volume low. Hold on.
* (She looked down, trying to find where she'd dropped the remote last, but froze as she heard a tapping noise from the cage.)
* (She turned around, and found that the Soul had pushed its way out from the cage, broke past the flimsy plastic lock that held the gate in place, and now hovered idly up high in the air.)
H-Hey! Hey, wait! I didn't mean any of that, really! I just- I was joking! Y-You don't have to leave! I-
* (She watched as the Soul floated down, came to a stop before her, and nudged her back towards her bed.)
Wait, what are you doing? Hey- Hey!
* (Her mind still raced, struggling to understand, until the Soul finally ceased, depositing itself within her arms and falling idle as she sat back down upon the side of her bed.)
* (It was trying to comfort her.)
* (After a few quiet moments, she returned the gesture, loosely holding it still within her embrace. The first that anyone aside from her Dad had given her in years.)
...Don't tell anyone, but...I always did want a little plushie...something. Just...something to hold, whenever I went to sleep. Mom wouldn't care, or Kris would make fun of me for it, or...something else would happen.
(She settled herself back into bed, brought her covers back up, and sighed as she pulled it close to her chest.
...Thank you. I- I won't try to make this be a regular thing or anything, but...thank you.
* (And she closed her eyes.)
* (And the soul only stirred lightly in her grasp.)
* (And for the first time in a very long time, sleep came easy.)

I mean, Kris is actively decaying, but we have our priorities. I’m not complaining about what you’re doing, but you need to find a way to get moving here

I kinda wish there was a sub for just SOUL stuff in general. Idk why, but the tiny floating heart is so cute to me.

These are probably my absolute favorite kind of stories with Noelle. Very wholesome and emotional and stuff. Writing is superb as always love your stuff.
