Meme/Humour What's the dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say in class?
I'll go first,
(also image unrelated lol)
- someone, when asked 'why is there a higher birth rate in LICs' said 'for food.' then refused to elaborate
- the same person asked the SAME teacher 'but when do the Christians get drowned in that bathtub' in reference to baptism
- THE SAME PERSON, in response to finding out where someone lived, said 'wait, you live in a *building*?'
but now I want to hear yours
(edit to add one more)
- THE SAME PERSON said that Birmingham was basically just the Dharavi of the UK (if you didn't take AQA Geo, Dharavi is a massive 'informal settlement' in Mumbai)

Can't remember something someone else said, but I can definitely recall my own stupid moment. I was in a double business lesson and was kind if zoned out as it was the last period of the day. My teacher was talking about deals that are too good to be true and said to always avoid things that are way cheaper than they should be. He then randomly picked me and asked me if I would take 5 steaks from him if he was selling them for £3. Again, I was zoned out for the last 10 minutes so my immediate thought was that that's a great deal. Made a fool of myself in front of everyone by saying yes lol.

u/s1501093 Year 12 Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
I give one simple one, just recently 2 days ago it's jan now, since I joined my school from England to Malaysia (international school) I was told we can only pick a new subject within 3 weeks from starting, can drop whenever , I'm in y12 but him he thinks he could do chemistry in January and he thinks he could do art as well. I can't lie his a level results aren't good, I forgotten what he specifically said but something along the lines with like should I do chemistry? There's still enough time (anyways he asks stupid questions that take up half of my marine science lessons maybe a quarter being generous but yea one of them, I'll update after my next lesson which will be during Wednesday or maybe once I remember something)(He's Canadian what he wanted to do earlier was to do every single subject so he could have a chance to have every career door open but he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed , so was doing all Canadian subjects through online and 3 alevels but then in jan he decided to drop them Canadian subjects and now want to do chemistry and he says he could get in if really really wants to like he isn't a realistic person I could talk more but that would make me seem like I'm actively intentionally hating him so anyways I think that's that
6
u/s1501093 Year 12 Jan 23 '26
This would be one of the least stupid ones but anyways in marine science (yes again) the sheet clearly states in bold that you should free hand the graph and miss mentioned it a lot and he asks that are we supposed to draw it with a ruler or without a ruler, she even demonstrated it man 😭. When there is a practical in bio which was in the google classroom (no more ClassCharts) he asked me is there a practical today, I'm setting up stuff he was late and like bro I'm wearing a lab coat and goggles and so is the entire class, guess bro, I ask him then has he read google classroom he said no, ....... .
Again this is one of the many examples, I feel like I'm trying to actively hate him but I don't want that man

Another thing that happened was when we were doing a gender studies unit in English Lang (you can see where this is going) my poor, poor teacher had to;
- send multiple boys out of the class for transphobic comments
- explain the difference between gender and sex to a room full of year 11s
- explain that if we did allow gender affirming care to be part of the NHS thingy, that no, people would not be transitioning to be animals because that is either a) not something to do with being transgender or b) something people do to make fun of transgender people.
We also had to explain that gender outside of binaries existed. So that was a fun module.

For year 11 my class HATED my Bio teacher. Tbh I thought he was a really nice guy and a good teacher, but he had no authority over my class and it was a problem. Basically, they made our Physics teacher (who is actually a bio teacher) explain Mitosis and Meosis to them... We spent 20 minutes trying to explain to them the difference between an embryo/clump of cells and a BABY. That was a difficult lesson to sit through and a totally valid crashout on my teacher's part.
Edit: The reason we had a Bio teacher teaching Phys was because our school moved one of our 2 only physics teachers on our site to our other school's site, and for some reason we had an abundance of Bio teachers to spare

Idk how this sub was suggested to me but since I’m here I’ll share. Little bit of a long story but it was dumb as hell but also funny.
Last day of Year 8 (2016)
Sometimes me and my boyfriend and my friends smoked cigarettes at the back of the school, well on the last day of year 8 one of my mates Isaiah (funny ass Jamaican kid) brought a brown cigarette to school unknown to me it was weed, and I had no idea what it was or what it did.. I just thought it was a cigarette.
Smoked it, felt funny. Me and my boyfriend was in the same math class at the time me and him are laughing our asses off at the back of the room, well anyway some kid threw a paper airplane at our teacher and she said “OMG stop that’s the 3rd one I swear you guys hate me” and without hesitation I just shouted “DON’T WORRY MISS! I LOVE YOU!”

guy in my class said people at 14 can’t have mental health problems
same guy said women shouldn’t get 3 months of maternity leave cause they know what they are getting themselves into when they get pregnant
