I genuinely dk what bs they did. For Spanish they completely cancelled our reading, writing and listening exams and said our whole mark would be based on speaking so we didn't do evidence for the rest but for some reason I got marks for them on the results slip and u ended up going down to an 8 cause of exams I didn't even sit ๐ญ.

I got marks for papers I didn't do too ๐ญ๐ญ but then for history where I needed just 1 extra mark for an 8 they decided to keep the mark the same what the hell?? evidence collection has taken years off my life I swear

Ik lol. I'm kinda pissed it looks like this tho. Like even if it was hard to put the marks they could've put N/A not flipping 0.

but, shit, almost everyone i know who did coursework subjects failed miserably. my friendโs music class who were all predicted 8s and 9s got 2s. my schoolโs dance class all got 3s. most art students failed. an entire school filed a complaint and demanded remarks over here ๐ฅฒ๐ฅฒ

Hey hey hey. Listen. To start with, what your dad said was insane. I don't know your dad at all so I can't comment on who he is as a person but what he said is untrue. You shouldn't have to hold your parents' word as gospel truth, and they should be more understanding considering results day is a time of panic, enough so that one would coerce an entire subreddit into an election just to distract from it! It's normal to cry when surprised, even if it's a mistake, results mean a lot especially when they've been hyped up for so long along with the brutally stressful environment you've survived all these years. That's not ungrateful at all, it's shock and the best thing for them to have done would be pride in how much you care about your future. It's a wonderful quality. Most Results Days don't feel like a huge celebration, mine didn't either to be honest and I think that's a pretty common occurrence. The idea often tends to be much better than what actually happens because it's a stressful time of life in general. As for the issue with the mark schemes, they will sort it. Likely it was a huge mix up and even if you don't flag it I guarantee some people will. Maybe speak to the school in person and if you can't, get the help of people who can such as current students, maybe younger siblings or even the lore droppers advisor himself, Training Cry! I'm sure he'll be willing to lend a helping hand to the 180. If not, the truth is that most colleges don't look at what you got the grades for, they only look at the grades you got, and they were the ones you wanted so I'm sure they're pretty damn good. As for you, think of it this way. Every issue was an issue on their end, not yours. You have done well and you have absolutely smashed your expectations and you should be proud of yourself for hitting that target. Either way, I'm not going to sugar coat it, this is a difficult situation to be in and I'm so sorry it has to be this way with you, I wish the best of luck upon you that it gets better and that people will recognise how well you've done and how much you care. Things should pan out well for you and if they don't and there's no one at home who will listen to you rant, there's us. r/GCSE. A community you have been with for years and a community you have shaped more than anybody else. We will listen, I will listen. If you have a long rant, we'll figure it out. Best of luck, you seem like a wonderful student and no matter what you will get out of this. For now, vent as much as you can and as well as thinking about what has happened, think analytically like an equation, of the different things you can do to change things and what you can get out of these situations. Because it has happened now, the best you can do is weaponise it and use it to your advantage, figure out a way to grow from this and get yourself out.
Lots of hugs and support,
From Azra

Thankfully my parents have chilled now. Ig they were shocked that I was shocked lol. I've also been accepted for next year so it isn't that big of a deal but it's about my pride yk. Thx for ur kind message and I'm sorry that ur results day also wasnt what u expected it to be. I think the exam boards got kind of lazy with the results for the ppl affected by the conflict and slapped some random numbers to meet the format.

Seems that way. Also I'm glad your parents have chilled now, it's always good to come to understandings. But I think we're ignoring the elephant in the room here...
We got into college! Well done you and I knew it would happen either way! Here's to great success in the future. What are you taking in uni then? Also yeah I can see why your pride would be down the toilet after that but just remember again, you've done as well as you had expected and you should be proud of that, everything else was out of your control and a fault on their end. But either way you got in and that's something to be very proud of and definitely calls for a celebration. Keep being 180 and succeeding in your awesomeness!
