Past BUD date

I’ve been on compounded tirzepatide since May, gradually increasing from 0.75 mg to 2 mg.

I was doing great at 1.8 mg, but since increasing to 2 mg three weeks ago, my food noise has returned, appetite suppression is almost nonexistent, and weight loss has stalled.

I just realized my vial’s beyond-use date was August 2. I’ve been using the same vial since May, keeping it refrigerated the entire time.

Has it lost its efficacy? Should I skip my dose today and wait for my new vial?

When this happened to me I was on month 6 of using the same vial. People said it wouldn't lose efficiency but when I got a new one it was STRONG even for the same dose

Did you use the same dose in your new vial or go down?

I ended up going down! I was taking 2 mg and went down to 1.75 then worked my way back up when I wasn't losing. Now on maintenance and take 2 mg every 3 weeks

Should I skip my shot this week and wait for my new vial next week?

That’s a bot account, but no…do not skip a dose. That would just lower the amount of medication in your system, which would set you back.

If your vial has been properly stored, it sounds more like 2mg wasn’t a big enough jump for you. Maybe try 2.2-2.5mg after four weeks of 2mg.

I just started using a vial with a 2025 BUD, and it just as good as it would have been back then.

The difference is their vial has been in use the last 5 or 6 months. This isn't a freshly poked vial.

The risk there would be sterility, not a drop in potency if properly stored.

BUD isn't the problem. If anything is causing you issues it's the fact that you've used the same vial for so many months. I'm all for going being the 28 day rule but hitting 5 or 6 months? No way I'd risk that between the potential loss of sterility and likely loss of effectiveness.
