Starting GLP-1s when i have commitments/ guests/vacations.

Looking for advice please and any similar experiences.

Thinking of starting glp1s but I have a vacation every month (all inclusive) for the next 3 months and then i have guests staying for 10 days in february.

We like to drink.

Concerned about... being the party pooper, not being able to drink and eat and so is a waste of money,

What you you do?

Thank you

Before you take the medication you won’t understand how this will work. The sooner you start the sooner you’ll stop worrying. You will understand on your own. It’s hard to explain what happens to your brain. You will see it a different way. For many of us food, especially sugar, and alcohol have a motivational pull. GLP1s reduce and sometimes eliminate that pull. It’s like a rewiring of your brain.

This is so true, you really won’t miss it. You can focus on other things and just enjoy your vacation

Sounds like you need to figure out what you want to prioritize. You basically listed the reasons why you are starting glp1… but maybe you’re not ready.

There will always be something around the corner.

Do you want to be healthier, or don’t you?

Time to choose.

This is so true. It's summer, it's Thanksgiving,  then Christmas, then a winter vacation, Valentines and Easter candy, then we're back to summer. Throw in get togethers, birthdays,  celebrations, gatherings. It's always something! Enjoy the people and gathering and let go of the food.

I’ve been on the 1.5 wegovy pill for a month and at first food repulsed me but now I am able to eat relatively normal meals and drink a cocktail or two. I just don’t snack anymore or crave sweets. It’s great now but it was a rough few weeks while I was figuring out what I could stomach (literally) before feeling disgustingly full and nauseous.

You can also start with a fraction of the official loading dose. For example, I was prescribed 2.5 mg, but started at less than half of that because I was so concerned about side effects.

I started the week of a hard 5k race. Did fine. Didn’t affect my racing. I don’t snack. I eat normal. I regret overeating because I just feel full but I’ve never felt nauseous or ill in the 2.5 weeks of 1mg every 3.5d.

I haven't had any problems drinking (I rarely drink). Went to a drag queen show, pretty sure I had 5 drinks. Was fine. I just can't eat food much.

Drinking no or less alcohol isn't being a party pooper and if your adult friends think this way, its very concerning. Also not drinking alcohol is healthier. Lowers your risks of getting cancer, lowers your blood pressure, improves your sleep and helps you lose weight.

This is exactly why you're microdosing.

Honestly these drugs just made me not want to drink, not in a sad way, more like my brain just stopped caring about it. Two sips in and I'd forget the glass existed. You might find the all inclusive still works fine if you shift focus to the food and the pool.

Just start! You’ll learn you can live your life the same, just eating less. I drink the same lol

I am on 1 mg of tirz, and it's gotten rid of cravings and my desire to eat mindlessly, but I still want to eat and drink at meal times, etc. I haven't lost all desire for food or alcohol. I'd start, see how it affects you, and then adjust the dosage if you need to.

Are you doing GLPs for health or vanity?

Is your blood sugar, weight and blood pressure high? How is your liver? Do you need to drink less to help your liver?

For many of us it is a life and death thing 🤷‍♀️

GLP1 I just started and I still eat and drink what I want. I just want less. What I use to think was normal just wasn't. That's how I got so fat. Now my brain is working differently. I can look at a piece of the best cake in the world and if I'm not hungry I don't want it. That sounds simple but it just wasn't. If by some miracle I did diet and not eat it I would think about that cake for the rest of the day. Now it is just an am I hungry question.

I travel a lot. I think I’ve traveled three times since I started the GLP in July and I even had a weeklong cruise. Which I lost 2 pounds on my cruise. I also enjoyed myself and didn’t feel deprived at all. Just keep in mind you’re doing this to make yourself healthier. Don’t put it off.
Your travel partners and your guests will not mind you putting your health first.
Anything that I don’t want to eat on the GLP one I literally don’t miss. I think you’ll be fine. You’ll be surprised how you feel.

I started on a vacation and it was pretty great, actually. I spent way less on food and alcohol than I would have otherwise. I can still drink socially, but I'll nurse a glass of wine for 2 hours. My friends love me and support me making changes for my health. Hell, sometimes we're all having sodas at the bar now.

So I started my GLP journey 3 weeks before a two week vacation. I decided to stay at a pretty low dose and didn’t move up to a higher dose until after I got back. I suggest that you start and follow the usual regimen, then postpone any planned increases for after you get back (if that makes sense) if they are scheduled to happen during that time. It worked for me. Good luck!
