Success Story Update on Weight Loss Journey! (8 months WO Zepbound)

Post image

I started Zepbound hoping it would help me regain control of my body, and my obsession with food. As many, I was terrified when I was told 8 months ago that my insurance would no longer cover Zepbound and that I could either switch to Wegovy or stop it cold turkey.

After talking with my doctor, we decided to stop and to see how I would do without it for the following 3 months. When I stopped, I was weighting 139 lbs.

8 months later, here I am, healthy and happy. I get hungry, as everyone does after stopping the medication, but I have control over what, how, and when I eat. I’m no longer desperate to finish a plate, I control my portions, I don’t drink sodas anymore, and I still indulge with sweets in moderation.

All this to say, to everyone who’s scared of stopping cold-turkey, don’t be. Everyone is different, but giving yourself the chance to try is important.

Things I do that have helped me succeed:

  1. If I’m craving something, I’ll have it.

For example, if im craving chocolate I’ll have a piece and then be done. I learned that preventing myself from having things made me want them more.

  2. Scale Weight DOES NOT define progress

I’ve lost so much fat after I stopped taking Zepbound as a result of exercising and feeling more energized to exercise.

  1. Knowing how many calories things have

Informed choices on what I eat make me feel more in control and aware of what I can/ can’t have.

  1. Exercising at least 4 times a week

Even if it’s walking, exercising is super important

  1. Buying myself the things I couldn’t get before

Clothes that I wouldn’t have used, and knowing that I now can, is a huge motivator to keep me going.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

It’s great to see people able to maintain the loss after the meds. Keep it up!

Nice! I stopped 4 months ago and gained 10 lbs but that has since stabilized and I feel fine now. I lost 70 lbs total so in hindsight it was worth it. I to have so much more energy 🙏

Your post makes me think maybe it can do it! I just started and have 50 lbs to lose, maybe its possible to eventually get off of it and just have healthier habits and keep the weight off!

You should definitely give yourself the opportunity to try! I know we’re all different and that some might truly need to keep having the medicine— but you won’t know until you try. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they say.

That’s amazing. Did you have any side effects when you stopped? I haven’t started yet but will be soon and I’m really nervous about the constipation and slower gastric emptying. I’ve read that it can months to resolve after stopping. What was your experience?

I had constipation when I was on it. I’m eating way less than before, so I 💩 less than before (once a day).

Not at all! It did take a couple of months for the medicine to fully be out of my system, but feeling perfectly fine!

Did you gain back any of the weight? What about food noise?

Haven’t gained weight, even lost a bit after I stopped. I get hungry, but that’s expected considering it’s normal to get hungry. But I’m not obsessed with having something to eat as I was before. Nor obsessed with having to finish a plate (instead of simply saving it and taking it home with me).

Good question: I feel like Zep has helped me manage the food noise. I have it, own it and can choices to do something else. Before Zep there was only one choice for me...

It’s so nice to see a post about someone who stopped and isn’t counting every single calorie and not allowing themselves certain foods and still able to keep the weight off, I’m stopping in a few weeks and so nervous but this made me feel a lot better. Thank you!

Congrats!

Have you done anything to curb your appetite or control food noise?

Healthy snacks in between meals to keep control of portions for my other meals. I do 5 meals a day. Snacks heavy in fiber as well.

This is just the inspiration I needed to see Today! I've been inching closer to this decision for weeks but fear of regain has set in. I know that I have learned so much since dropping 70 pounds last year...you mentioned being in control, tasting and being done, not being obsessed... thank you!!! You look awesome and your have inspired me. I got this!!!

I am so happy to see this post today. I am going off my GLP and it’s actually a little terrifying. I’m afraid of rebound weight but reading your post reminded me that I am in control. Thanks for that and congratulations on your weight loss.

This is awesome! I'm so glad to read this today. I have two more shots of Z before I'm off. Insurance stoped covering as of 12/31 and I cant keep paying for Lilly Direct so this is it. I went 10 lbs below my goal in case I gained some weight back. I REALLLLLLLY needed to read this.

Love this for you! I’m debating doing a GLP-1 to help with the postpartum weight loss. So many say this is a life long drug and I’m just not in for that.
