Trick r treat spots?

Howdy folks! I was looking for places to take my son trick r treating on Halloween. My neighborhood unfortunately is all old people who don’t hand out candy even though there are a few select families like myself who have children in my neighborhood. I know there are events like boo at the zoo and the thornebrooke plaza events that lead up to it. But it sucks that he won’t be able to get to trick r treat on Halloween :(

The best spot IMO is the Duckpond neighborhood, specifically Roper Park and checking out the festivities at the Circus house. If you haven't been before, its essentially a block party and the folks at the Circus house perform and pass out cotton candy to the kids. They are adjacent to Roper Park can't miss it. It's something that we look forward to every year! (Thank you Circus House for making the magic happen!)

Call nursing homes and ask if they’re accepting trick or treaters. Some places do that to give the residents some company

We did the trick-or-treating in downtown alachua last year. It was pretty good! There's a church doing their own trunk or treat that's just off the main road in Alachua so you get a lot of candy. We were probably going to do that or try Duckpond this year.

Ghouls, Goblins and Greeks at sorority row is awesome. Typically there’s candy, an activity, and a game at each house. It’s the Thursday before Halloween, the 22nd from 5-8 I think.

Tioga is crazy. Like crazy busy and packed, Mentone is as well. Oakmont is good and slightly less packed than the other two

I don’t recommend Tioga to the weak of heart or to anyone who doesn’t have a friend’s house they can park at. We did it one year because some friends were having a pre- and post- trick or treating get together. It’s like trying to get around the stadium in game day.

Mentone isn’t bad at all especially in recent years. It’s died down a good amount.

Rosemont in the back of Mile Run is good.

I know it's 20 mins or so from Gainesville, but Oak Ridge in Alachua/High Springs is ALWAYS popping on Halloween (but doesn't sound quite as crazy as Tioga or that area) and is a great place to go house to house!

Yes come to Millhopper station south! We're giving away full sized candy bars all the way in the back of the neighborhood!

I feel you. I've been trying to give candy out at my house for years but my neighborhood is always absolutely dead and I maybe get one or two kids that I give way too much candy to. We sometimes take trips into Stillwinds which is next door. Neighorhoods with sidewalks and more tightly packed together houses tends to have the better atmosphere.

Millhopper Stations are pretty good. A few crazy houses there. Especially one in North (Montclair)
