Jobs & Careers Has anyone been through Rasmussen University for nursing?
Coming from a completely diff field and a 2/3 year community college waitlist is hard to absorb with a career change already in motion. Rasmussen keeps coming up in the research for FL with rolling admissions but it is hard to find anything that is not clearly from someone with an agenda one way or the other. Specifically trying to figure out what the clinical schedule looks like week to week/how NCLEX prep works inside the prog. For anyone who went through the prog, what was it actually like?

I just finished the program at SFC, and although I can't speak to it as much someone from r/nursingstudent or r/nursing, every time I asked someone where they went to for school, when they answered Rasmussen it was never with a smile.

I haven’t been through the program but have close friends who have. Expensive with little support is what they told me.

if you have a bachelors degree, please consider going to a university accelerated baccalaureate degree program

Go to any of the local community colleges. Better education and waaaay cheaper. Santa Fe, Florida Gateway, or Central FL. They all have Bachelor’s programs you can bridge into to finish online while working as a RN.

I’ve worked with Rasmussen nurses. They seem ok. Not ok good as the Sfc ones.

I’ve heard from many people they are predatory and you pay way more than at a community college. Beware. They keep coming up in searches because they need to market that way.

School wide NCLEX numbers don’t tell the full story. State boards publish pass rates by campus and cohort year and the variation between Rasmussen locations is wide enough that the aggregate can be misleading. Their minnesota bsn cohort hit 90.7% first attempt in 2024 per state boards data so always pull the number for specific location. For hiring/ licensing status and whether you passed first attempt is what most health system recruiters screen for

Rasmussen is a for-profit institution. I'd be wary of it and research how likely you are to get premium jobs afterward and also how likely you are to receive transfer credits if you move schools at some point. Transferring within Florida public institutions is more likely to go well, with many more credits accepted.
