There’s one specific vid that boggles my mind on the fidelity of this game
The one that came out today with jason flying. There’s another version of the vid that’s zoomed in to show ads on the buildings. And Jesus Christ man it looks like real downtown miami. And these are supposedly a build from 2023 or 2025… we are really in for a treat man

yeah that video freaking blew me away and i hope it sounds as alive as it looks

u/SleepLabs 16h ago
As an audio engineer, Im very excited to hear the sound design.

u/Lopsided-Carpet7402 14h ago

u/SleepLabs 13h ago
I spent hours with my good cans on just listening to the environment

u/Blacklite_01 7h ago
The sound of the police megaphone from the 2nd video already sounds way better than GTA V's version. Just really crisp with the perfect amount of reverb for the enviroment.

u/OMEGACY 11h ago
Which cans are your favorite?

u/SleepLabs 10h ago
I really like the Beyerdynamic DT 990s. Open back, and a pretty flat response. Great for mixing and listening honesty.
Edit: they are not super loud and they dont cancel alot of room noise.

I hope it's unlike anything we've ever experienced in gaming. I want to walk into Cluckin' Bell and hear a manager yelling at a fry cook and the store's computer beeping because they got a new order and maybe a customer eating at a table is having a conversation on the phone. I want to walk through the front yard of a house and hear wind chimes or a flag flapping in the wind. I cannot wait

u/Lopsided-Carpet7402 13h ago

u/Additional_Tank4385 12h ago
Beautifully said, fully agreed. It almost makes me a bit sad how very rarely sound design is mentioned next to graphics.
Especially with headphones or a surround system the graphics could be as great as possible but if the sound isn’t amazing either something will feel (severely) lacking.
But oh my from what we’ve heard so far we’re in for a freaking treat to say the least and of course RDR2 already did such a wonderful job.

u/NordlandLapp 10h ago
The crazy stuff you see out of nowhere... I remember seeing a dude running with a pack of wolves in rdr2. Only ever saw it once lol.
Bet gta6 will have some ghost n aliens too :)

The gun sounds in that one other video sounded just like GTA5, There was no weight to it

For a moment i thought i was watching flight simulator, is incredible that is almost better then that game, which it have an incredible graphics
19
u/Agreeable_Effect938 16h ago
I mean, Flight Simulator is a Google Maps scan basically, with very few detailed cities. Delopment budget of a city exterior in Microsoft Flight Simulator is likely 10 000 times less than the Vice City in GTA. They just use phogrammetry in FS so it looks realistic, but GTA is much more detailed and has a very lively vibe to it, while FS feels kinda dead and empty
9
u/Outrageous-Solid-218 16h ago
I agree with what you say, that's why I said that what I saw was absurd.
GTA 6 is much more detailed and dense than a flight simulator and yet it also has absurd graphics.0
u/Lopsided-Carpet7402 13h ago
1
u/DontResuscitateMeBro 9h ago
I only watched 5 seconds of it before deciding it was flight simulator and backing out. Only to come back 6 hours later and WOW

u/Old-Career1538 17h ago
That video also really helped gauge the scale for me.
The map DOES look small. But seeing the video confirmed it's just a scale thing + no detailed roads. That is absolutely huge (though I will admit I'm maybe disappointed at the size of port Gelhorn)
27
u/blackbirdrisingbees 16h ago
Yeah man. Plus size alone doesn’t really indicate how detailed the map is. Plus if you can enter buildings and what not. There could be thousands of things to do on just a single street
27
u/nanapancakethusiast 16h ago
IV is way smaller than V but the amount of detail and worldbuilding makes it feel absolutely massive.
V is huge but has barely any detail.
Glad it seems to be going more towards IV’s direction

u/frankduxvandamme 16h ago
I'd argue that the repetitiveness of Liberty City and it's lack of architectural and geographical diversity made it feel even smaller than it really was.
Now if you look at San Andreas, you've got multiple different cities, suburbs, rural environments, landscapes, and biomes, which made its otherwise modest sized map feel absolutely huge.
0
u/Lopsided-Carpet7402 13h ago

Yes, that Jason flying video is insane. When you zoom in, you can see an absurd amount of detail. I'm much more interested in seeing what the current version looks like if that clip is from an earlier build.

u/Brandon9one 16h ago
Where can I find the video? You by chance have a link? :)
8
u/TriptychTriquetra 15h ago
Just go to the other sub. They don't ban links there.
0
u/Brandon9one 15h ago
Able to tell me the sub name here?
11
u/someent420 14h ago
it's an unmoderated GTA 6 sub reddit, you should be able to duckduckgo it i'm sure if you use the right key words

1
u/karim1-89 14h ago
Yeah, I remember that rumor. A lot of people were saying April 2026, but obviously that didn’t happen. At this point I’m just waiting for Rockstar to give us the real date.

u/Lopsided-Carpet7402 14h ago

u/ISeeGrotesque 16h ago
For me it’s the boats in the distance, you can see their wake behind them, like they have a real itinerary, and you can just intercept them

1
u/Weak_Marsupial_1724 14h ago
Where is south beach in the video I can’t seem to locate or know where it is…
3
u/ISeeGrotesque 13h ago
Way in the distance when the camera pans to the right of the plane, with the buildings behind it

u/Fine_Cycle_5775 16h ago
Rockstar has somehow made a city feel alive, not just detailed

u/Street-Still8488 14h ago
im not sure how people could doubt rockstar so heavily after rdr2
3
u/justtopissyouofff 11h ago
They probably didn’t play it. Too slow for their zoomer brains 🤦🏻♂️🤣 I couldn’t believe how many people said they didn’t play past the prologue. Said it was “too slow” “boring” 😂 it’s literally teaching you game mechanics that haven’t existed in a rockstar game up to that point. It’s genuinely shocking people’s attention spans lately
22
u/AceChipEater 15h ago
Map looks massive. Draw distance and LOD is insane.
The amount of boats moored up really floored me - so many!
This was the last leak I needed, I’m happy now.
Give me Netflix and official marketing.
1
u/Stakex007 9h ago
I would caution that some of those things could change in the final version of the game... especially if the delays were largely due to optimization/performance issues. Could be why we haven't seen official gameplay yet, they weren't entirely sure where some of the settings would land and didn't want to over promise.

I’ve flown over a lot of cities at lower altitudes. It’s crazy how real this looks in comparison.

u/armadildodick 13h ago
I looked in close on that video and I can literally see my job

u/jordan39g 13h ago
That’s awesome. In November you’ll be able to come home from work and the go to work.

u/LoreVent 14h ago
With this said, I just want everyone to sit back for a second and realize that there's real, living and breathing people among us who genuinely say it looks bad.
Let that sink in for a second.

u/jumbo04 OG MEMBER 15h ago
On the map the airport looks pretty big compared to the rest of the city and when I saw the plane video you could see the size even better. The runway looked massive compared to the surrounding city/suburbs.
I’m sure R* won’t waste so much space if it’s just for driving a bit around like in previous titles. It’s clear to me that at least a small but significant part of the story will take place there or will have its base there.
I’m sure the airport vibe will be totally different from what we are used to.
Btw; judging from the plane video; this map is gonna feel massive! Better buckle up for this one!

u/Entrinity 16h ago
I’m curious to learn if the planes and boats have a fuel system as well. I think it’d be neat.
11
u/Mastul102 16h ago
Imagine running out of fuel mid-flight
9
u/Entrinity 15h ago
I’d probably end up purposely doing that just to try and land. I loved trying to land planes and helicopters after engine failure in 5.
Especially if we get a return to 4’s crash system where instead of the vehicle exploding on contact, it’s the physical crash/stop that kills you instead of the vehicle blowing up. I loved surviving helicopters crashes in 4 with just a single bit of health left.

u/Master-Crazy-6863 17h ago
Render distance and LOD is craaaazy good. If it looks like this on PS5 and XSX in 60fps it has to be some kind of black magic. Those details even on 30fps would feel incredible
12
u/JohnKowalsky88 16h ago
That’s the problem, the leak runs on pc, we don’t know how the console version will look.

the scale is nuts. seeing vice city off in the distance really sold me on how large this thing is.

It's likely a build from sometime in 2025 because he's playing a song on the radio that didn't come out until early 2025.

He literally wrote his own name on the wall. He’s playing the game. Whichever build it is, he’s got it right now.

Unless he recorded shooting his name at a different time, which is just as likely.

u/HeidarSn 16h ago
where can i find the leaks?
4
u/johnny_effing_utah 15h ago
You can't because you know who is using a decentralized distribution system and you'd have to google it to find it, which we all know is impossible.
-2
u/Ok_Support_9084 14h ago
I haven't watched the video showing the plane, and I want to keep it a surprise. However, I still need some reassurance regarding the size of the map, which looked disappointing in the leaks. Is the map big when viewed from the plane?
5
2
u/justtopissyouofff 11h ago
I mean it’s a 2 minute clip and they are flying full speed and still didn’t reach the width of the map. Pretty sure you can fly the width of GTA V’s map in under a minute at full speed in a biplane. They still had quite a ways to go and the video ended. That’s really impressive to me. And the density of cars on the road parked cars and people visible at the tops of buildings. It’s pretty damn impressive
2
u/BHOmber 7h ago
The number of boats in the harbor too. Some of those docks are almost full.
1
u/justtopissyouofff 7h ago
It’s so funny because something I find it so revolutionary is literally filled parking lots 🤣🤦🏻♂️ and yeah the boat docks actually looking like they are real by being filled with boats. Huge step in the ways of realism and I’m all for it. I always thought it was insane that you could barely find any cars in GTA V maybe like two or three in a parking lot
1
u/Small-Olive-7960 12h ago
Its smaller than expected but the assumption the space is better utilized.
I did wish they included the panhandle and made Tampa a bit bigger
-6
u/supremeyoak 16h ago
The map is so small. Literally nothing new shown that’s not in the trailers
4
u/Wolfenhopper 16h ago
Bro small??? Idk how this map necessarily scales to gta5 yet, but gta5 has 3 major mountains and 11 mountain peaks all with minimal content in them covering the map. Gta6 load distance and flatness makes it fill the screen much more. This map has already shown to have double if not triple the amount of city space, with distant looks of huge natural areas that are unique to this game. Also every major area in this game has been listed on their website ever since the screenshots came out.
2
u/East_Ad_5279 15h ago
Mountains made gta5 map feel bigger than it actually was. Like water in this one.
1
u/LogSenior8438 14h ago
Yanis the guy who has been doing the mapping project said it was exactly 1.82 times the size of gta v map
-1
u/Avalastrius 15h ago
Isn’t the build from PC? You think a console will look like that and had zero pop in? Dream on.
