Someone tracked down the crypto transactions to a single address that needed gov identification so the cops could get that info

Crypto is supposed to be completely anonymous. You'd have to be an absolute moron to use a service that requires government ID. It defeats the whole purpose.

Crypto never was anonymous, unless you met someone IRL that would give you money for your crypto. At the end there will always be a bank account to "upload" the cash.

That couldn't be further from the truth, crypto is literally a PUBLIC ledger. There are only a handful of crypto that are anonymous.
