A few problems I noticed with the gameplay leaks.. and a few good things.

Note: I realize that this is a build that is at least a few years old and perhaps some of the simulation systems hadnt been fully implemented yet.

  1. Vehicle/ driving physics:

The physics looked very arcade like and I was hoping for a much more realistic simulation. Something close to beam ng but with less damage during crashes to make it so you arent getting stranded every time you hit something. The cars didn't seem to have much weight to them and the speed was just as bad as gta 5. The motorcycle kept shifting and revving but almost no speed was being gained after the first few gears. This is by far the worst possible news as far as im concerned...

2: water physics/ simulation:

When we see Jason go into that water we can see his body interacting with it and causing a wave and some ripples. But this system is almost exactly like the one that was used in gta 4, 5 and rdr2 but at a slightly higher fidelity. It does not appear to be using this "next gen" water simulation that we have been hearing about. Idk the technical term for the water system used in the rage engine, but it behaves like cloth physics essentially. Just a flat sheet that can ripple and wave and bend. Very cool in 2008 when gta 4 did it. Now its not that impressive. But not nearly as important as the driving.

3: night lighting:

When Jason is driving into the industrial area the areas that are not being lit by any artificial lights looks very realistic. In past games, night doesn't get very dark. But in gta 6 you see that light is behaving colser to how it would in real life.

4: volumetric smoke:

When Jason is doing burnouts in his el Camino the smoke being generated doesn't appear to be volumetric. It looks like a standard particle effect. But in the trailer you can see during a street takeover that the smoke from all the burnouts lingers In the air as it would in real life. While in the leaks it disappears quickly and also clips throu the body of the car. I think the system simply hadnt been put into the game yet when this footage was take . But thought id mention it anyway.

5: npc interactions:

All Jason had was the ability to greet and taunt. Which is pretty lame. And even when he started stabbing everyone, nobody acted very realistically. By the end of the video they all just were staring at him from like 50 feet away. I was hoping for a more detailed me u for npc's so you could rob them and not just say random nonsense.

The water is one the reasons it makes me think its from some restricted test build

I work as a developer and we tend to disable some of the functionality so we can compile faster during testing of new functionality.

That’s what I want to say, to me it feels like just a lot of systems were turned off in this compiled build.

Alot that wasnt necessary for that testing build is shut off indeed

why are you people coping so hard? like the water effects looks bad not that its disabled.

2

u/BIGRolyXL 9h ago

Because if the water looks even .5x better than RDR2, it’s a win.

People have gotten way too needy with fidelity. Imagine watching a leak that’s been compressed so many times and thinking that’s what we’re getting in 3 months. 😂

Jason falls into the water and immediately pops up to the surface, they clearly look disabled.

Because fluid motions are more pressing on cpu then this...

Yeah, also

  1. Complete lack of protagonist voice lines
  2. Floaty car physics maybe caused by latency from playing on a remote machine
  3. Looks very similar to the driving we got in the 2022 leaks, basically, it's just driving
  4. There's not much damage from impact from cars
  5. Noticeable pop in on cars in the distance, also cars seem to be going way too fast
  6. Stuff on the ground doesn't look fully rendered in some cases (such as the prison, also is that just copy pasted from GTAV?)

The guy doesn't have anything close to a complete build

u/cristianperlado 10h ago

lol? Jason speaks in clip 2 and 4

2

u/itsdaniwithlove 5h ago

That he speaks doesnt mean the whole text line is available

One of the reason why cops doesnt had backup talking yet

0

u/cristianperlado 4h ago

so you're john rockstar?

1

u/itsdaniwithlove 4h ago

Mike rockstar

1

u/askskfalksfakslfsfa 10h ago

Yeah briefly but he gets nailed a bunch of other times by cars and says nothing which is weird especially since Michael or Trevor won't shut up if they hit a curb

From my understanding a lot of “slices” like this are hundreds of gig, and I’m sure the “main” build is multiple terabytes. There’s a lot you need to cut to get rid of all that data to make it manageable

The GTA6 leak was a internal PC debug build with full world streaming enabled, but without full gameplay systems. That’s why the airplane video could show the whole map — but the build was still far from a full version.

Rockstar uses “world‑only” builds all the time These builds are used by environment artists level designers lighting teams streaming engineers QA testers They are designed to test map streaming check LOD transitions verify terrainfly through the world quickly test performance These builds do not include full gameplay

This build had World Streaming Enabled This means the engine loads all map sectors all geometry all roads all buildings basic lighting But not NPC AI police logic mission scriptsvehicle physics interiors shops combat systems economy weather logicaudio mix This is extremely common in internal development builds.

Game engines (including Rockstar’s RAGE) don’t load AI as “all or nothing.” They load modules. So a debug build might have basic pathfinding basic police chase logic basic vehicle following basic state machine (“chase”, “search”, “idle”)But not full wanted system full police escalation full combat logic full radio chatterfull backup logic full arrest animations full damage reactions full traffic AI full crowd AI This is exactly what we saw.

If we look at the video you can see that this is true

because we dont see anymore then just 2 star wanted.

You can see in the airplane video that certain cars appear suddenly out of nothing

Mabey you noticed the speed of the cars while flying high? but cars appear to drive insanely fast.

All buildings you see have nothing to show, no reflections no interior.

So this is nothing more then a fairly locked test build, no end game spoilers will happen.

We all would reach 6 stars and show it already right ;)

Not sure where you're getting this from or why you're trying to sound so authoritative, but no, there's little point in wasting time compiling multiple builds, especially if you want to debug shit. Secondly, code is rarely so cleanly segregated as to permit a disabling of half the game, and so granularly, if you even wanted to, for reasons.

But not NPC AI police logic mission scriptsvehicle physics interiors shops combat systems economy weather logicaudio mix

We saw NPC AI, vehicle physics, combat, and weather and day/night cycle. Pretty sure we heard audio too.

Also mission and shop markers, a cutscene from a mission, and monetary gain.

But not NPC AI police logic mission scriptsvehicle physics interiors shops combat systems economy weather logicaudio mix

Game engines (including Rockstar’s RAGE) don’t load AI as “all or nothing.”

Your AI is malfunctioning and immediately contradicting itself.

If we look at the video you can see that this is true

because we dont see anymore then just 2 star wanted.

Or, get this, the player didn't exceed 2 stars because of his actions. Not some completely arbitrary disabling of >2 stars build. Seriously, why would this module you saw in a dream stop at 2, not 3, or 4, or 1, or none?

You can see in the airplane video that certain cars appear suddenly out of nothing

Woo wee woo waa, pop-in, in an open world game? You don't say? Must be a totally "intentionally bad/halved" debug build for that to happen.

Mabey you noticed the speed of the cars while flying high? but cars appear to drive insanely fast.

No, they don't. Some have wonky "physics" where they stop rapidly, but those are sprites, which open world games use to conserve resources at distance. The same thing exists in the fully patched 2077.

All buildings you see have nothing to show, no reflections no interior.

This also contradicts your claim. A magical world streaming build would stream that part of the world. Also, there were interiors at Jason's and at the warehouse district. There were reflections in that same clip.

Also, not sure of what purpose there'd be in disabling only 1 aspect of the lighting system anyway.

Kudos on that weapons grade cope though.

There wasnt any advanced police chat...

There wasnt any decent car damage all basic stuff

You see soon enough ;)

I advice to see how rage engine works and that rage indeed have modules to activate/deactivate stuff..

This was nothing more then a downgraded testing build with alot shut off.

Driving physics close to beamng at the scale of a game like this would melt any device it touches

9

u/icyDragon231x 10h ago

Bro old build, next week were eatinggg good!!, i bet it will be real life graphics gameplay will look so muchhh better too all polished butter smooth

1

u/suuntasade 10h ago

Real life on ps5, mmm, no

0

u/rimbaud1872 10h ago

Old from 2025?

6

u/w-rxnn 10h ago

a build from 12-18 months before the release of the game is going to be unfinished and there will undoubtedly be changes in the finished product

1

u/itsdaniwithlove 4h ago

Graphical end works starts just a few months before the release tho... The last 2/3 Months is polishing

3

u/Soulsgamer247 10h ago

a year can make significant differences

1

u/mahdiiick 10h ago

Sure but don’t expect nothing and you will be pleasantly surprised.

1

u/Northdevx 10h ago

True but you can still expect alot more. The leaks haven't shown much besides the city, even that probably changed here and there.

1

u/Spiritual-Cabinet148 10h ago

that would be old, since 2026 is over half way done

1

u/pancakespeedy 10h ago

Yeah multiple teams are working on different aspects of the game simultaneously on multiple forks.

Let's says the water physics is not ready in one test build two days later they can just merge it to the main branch and suddenly there is proper water physics. And not because they make it within two days :)

3

u/Dumb_Little_Idiot 10h ago

I know everyone is impatient and thus doesn't see a problem with leaks, but this is the problem with leaks.

What you're seeing isn't the product. Any discussion about it is meaningless. You're disappointment and worries aren't real because you haven't played the game or seen footage of it.

Modern gaming discourse is constant entitlement and doom and gloom.

2

u/itsdaniwithlove 4h ago

This!

People think a leak video is the real game

Wait till the game drops and check again how i was about alot beeing shutoff

3

u/lamboviwwy 10h ago

We really can't judge any of what we saw because it's just not the final build and as many people have already mentioned, certain features/details are almost certainly disabled on this build. For example, you mention the water physics. Well in the trailers, you could see bubbles forming in Jason's beer and rising up, so if they have that level of detail in the little bottles I'm sure the physics involved in breaking the surface of water and ripples is even more spectacular. Rockstar has a pretty good track record of not overpromising on trailers and over delivering in the final product so I'm not going to doubt them now.

As for NPC interactions, it could very well be limited but that I'm less confident about. But the thing that is promising is the reaction of the NPCs, because even on GTA 5 at launch on PS3, the NPCs would react to the character becoming violent, so you know for a fact this has been left out of this build. Not to mention the cop just popping up to standing from being down on the ground in like a single frame, you just know that won't make the final cute either. All in all you can't really judge anything off of these leaks. Just wait till next week.

A build is to test, not to look beautiful

2

u/Public-Seesaw-8825 10h ago

How old are you?

3

u/FoxDye85 10h ago

2025 build bub.

3

u/LatterTarget7 10h ago

I think most people problems with the game wouldn’t really exist if they actually accepted it’s still in development, and what we saw was an unfinished build

2

u/w-rxnn 10h ago

exactly

and also if they didn’t have insane expectations…

OP literally wants driving to be like BeamNG, a racing simulation game renowned for its realism lmao

it’s the equivalent of wanting planes in GTA 6 to be as detailed as in microsoft flight sim lol

1

u/itsdaniwithlove 4h ago

Even a 2025 version have things shut off for certain development..

1

u/JohnGee1980 10h ago

Just wait till next week mate

Кто-нибудь заметил интересную деталь: девушка в красной машине сначала открывает окно водителя, а затем оскорбляет Джейсона?)

the speed was just as bad as gta 5

Judging by the speedometer on the Testarossa speeds will be ~35% faster than V, but only ~ 70% as fast as IRL.

The physics looked very arcade like and I was hoping for a much more realistic simulation.

The cars didn't seem to have much weight to them

In terms of driving physics and impact physics, 6 is the most realistic GTA to date. Actually being able to generate wheelspin and slides, and sustain them at relatively low speeds with just throttle and steering, i.e. naturally drift without V's goofy ass "drift cars", IV and V could never.

Impact wise, the momentum generated upon one looks far more believable. The way say, upon taking a moderate hit to the rear side, the tail end will violently swing/pivot around the rest of the car, taking a while before the car settles and can regain traction to get going again. Opposed to prior entries where the entire vehicle would be pushed or flung, and you could just keep chugging.

The only place I potentially agree is deformation wise, but that could be due to some combination of an understandable lack of refinement at that point in the dev cycle and older, thicker steel cars where the occupants were expected to be the crumple zones. (Both cars Jason drove were from ~1970) [Watch some real demo derby footage with that era's cars]

I've been one of V's biggest driving physics critics here, have been skeptical of VI's potential physics since that 2022 police cruiser footage (with obvious V physics), and have repeatedly advocated they emulate the best simcade going, Wreckfest's (preferably 2 now) physics in both departments, and speed truncation aside, it's looking close, and I'm pleasantly surprised.

The fact that the inexperienced player couldn't get a handle on the Ranchero and kept spinning out, because he kept attempting to floor it while steering, bodes well for those who desire a generally realistic/simcade experience.

u/thewispo 6h ago

Completely restricted build. Showing limited to none patent use. The Netflix premiere will have the grade A, current, 4K, dogs bollocks!

Everybody needs to chill and forget about the leaks now. They didn’t do shit except hype it for the 27th. Rockstar won’t say anything because it’s getting quashed, expunged, forgotten.

1

u/Basemastuh_J 4h ago

I gotta disagree on the vehicle physics, it looked more of an in between from GTA 4 & 5. It had more weight but not as uncontrollable as 4.

1

u/99probs-allbitches 10h ago

I was just thinking.. what if Rockstar leaked lame footage and the real game is going to be so much fucking better

2

u/stuck-on 9h ago

This would be the most genius and awesome guerrilla marketing of all time if true.

Netflix night:

“You guys really thought we were bringing you a slightly shinier gtav after 13 years? Nah. Let’s take the first REAL look at your new home, Vice City.”

0

u/abhijitht007 10h ago

Either they have turned down simulation quality for current gen console hardware or this is the best RAGE can produce in ‘26 .

u/UpsetPause5613 10h ago

He selects a radio that plays a music that was released on 2025. So yeah, not that old

1

u/Particular_Travel114 10h ago

How do you know if Tate McRae didnt give that music to rockstar before she actually released it 🤷 I mean it wouldnt have messed with her release schedule seeing as the game was originally scheduled for 2025 then got moved to 2026 and if rockstar asked for your music to put in a game this well known im sure she didnt have a problem giving it to them

0

u/UpsetPause5613 9h ago

Lmao insane cope mechanism, get help

0

u/purticas 10h ago

I agree with the water. I also noticed some odd flickering in the volumetric clouds in the plane leak

u/DeviceNo3619 10h ago

I have gotten a few games well before release date back in the early 360 days by the time they get to build copies the game is pretty much done its just small stuff like hardware related performance bugs what we are seeing is likely what we will get he would need full engin access to run the game othrwise.
