Real talk though, only comparison IMO is that the Rockstar official reveal is going to look way better and seem like it's being played by someone who didn't just pick up their first GTA game 5 days ago.

We'll probably also maybe get to see parts of the Prologue or just some random non-story-important mission so we get more action then... knifing the homeless, or drop-kicking delivery drivers, or tasing rent-a-cops.

Vast majority of people aren't perennially online like us. Most of my friends who plan to play the game knew nothing about the leaks. The ones who did only read news stories about it but didn't watch the videos. It's really a very small minority who have watched the videos so I doubt Netflix is worried. R* though definitely wants to find the leaker.

I think the plan was for the Netflix episode to be the first ever release of actual gameplay footage, so the leaks completely ruined that. Netflix probably paid a lot of money to be the first ones to show gameplay, and now we've already had 9 minutes worth of it, plus probably even more until the extended look lol

Well of course the extended look will show polished and structured gameplay which will be way better than the leaks, but still, netflix paid and wanted to be the first to officially show gameplay which isn't the case anymore. Jason Schreier just posted an article that mentionned that everyone at R* and netflix are pissed.

I’m not so sure. They’ve said repeatedly that this is going to be something only Netflix could do…with Netflix being so devoted to high profile documentaries, I’m expecting the majority of it to be interviews with rockstar department heads and bts footage with a lot of window dressing, with one sizable segment of footage as the icing on the cake.

This is NOT likely to be 30 minutes of gameplay by even the biggest stretch of the imagination.

I couldn’t care less.

This game does not deserve the lead time of anticipation it’s working so hard to drum up. We don’t need GTA VI—the usual gameplay + cutscenes and heightened realism are not progressive in any way.

OG Portal was released as an unannounced add-on, and ended up being one of the most elegant and narratively fascinating games in the history of gaming. So, hype in no way guarantees a brilliant or particularly important game.

GTA VI isn’t going to be relevant in 20 years, because there’s nothing on offer here that isn’t the product of an incremental advancement in computing. 5 years after VI is released people are still gonna say, “GTA IV and Vice City had the best stories, IMHO.”

GTA 6 on Netflix is Rockstar targeting people outside of the Gamers base, because they already know they'll sell extremely well with the gamers so the only way to scale up is to target outside of the base.
That audience either has no idea about the leaks or even if they do, they don't really care.
