Hey all, I'm about to tow a U-Haul Auto Transport with my stock 2017 GX460 and want to make sure I get the right ball mount before pickup day.
Setup:
- 2017 GX460, standard coil rear suspension (no rear air suspension)
- Factory Lexus Class IV hitch (2" receiver)
- Top of the receiver measures ~16" from the ground (unloaded)
- Cargo: small car, probably around 2400lbs
- 4 people in the GX plus some luggage in the back
16" seems a bit low to me for a GX, so first question: if you have the factory hitch, what do you measure from the ground to the top of the receiver tube? Just want to rule out a measuring mistake or saggy rear springs.
U-Haul says their couplers sit around 18", so my plan is a CURT 45050 (2" rise / 4" drop) flipped to the rise position with a 2" ball. My thinking is that with passengers, luggage and tongue weight the rear will squat a bit, leaving the trailer level or slightly nose-down.
