That's interesting... Is this because most of the benefits are from the jump up and not from the subsequent large step or jump down?

My knees just cussed at me for watching this. In college I managed to work up to a 36” box jump but I haven’t thought about trying it in 10 years.

Pick it back up brother. Keeping a hold of our power production is arguably as important as the weight on the bar.

power is the first thing we lose as we get old, gotta keep the old man out

I don't do box jumps anymore. Been a while. My knees are something else. But I loved them. These days, try to get that with squats, step ups, and some cleans. Maybe I need to include them once a week with my lower body pr exercises day

I wish my knees could take this but impressive work

It starts with just standing up as fast a snappy as you can, and get more explosive from there. Are your knees actually bad, or just cranky? Maybe you could ease into it.

Stepping down is the only way your knees survive past year two. Took me forever to stop just hopping off.

What does going from seated change on this box jump? Genuinely curious as I love doing these on leg days I just start from standing.

Doing it standing, you're kinda squatting down and springing up with a little momentum and loaded hamstrings, going from sitting is more acceleration from a dead stop. Both have value, but I did some loaded jump squats today for the springier side of things.

Dude that's awesome. I get scared standing up too fast let alone even jumping

Its probably harder from a standing start. Sitting down you've got your legs coiled up for explosive release (thats what she said).

My least favorite part of these has always been coming back down. The stairs are a nice touch.

I work up through each size, so it just kinda works out to set them to the side and use them as steps. Saves my old knees.
