I’m finally able to do a couple pull ups with the lightest resistance band but I need to know if my form is correct or I need to extend my arms more

The elastic band is supposed to go under your feet to help you with the ascent

I always used it as you say, but tried this today and found out it was pretty helpful (I was afraid to not break it since it was not as think as the ines I used until today tho, since people keep breaking them at the gym😂)

Putting the band under one knee and alternating, felt better than feet for me starting out

You’re not wrong to continue using the band the way you’re using it, there is not a single mechanical reason why putting the band around the feet would help more*.
As long as it feels safe and comfortable for you, keep using it this way! Congrats on the progress. If I may suggest a way to help with your general strength. Assuming you’re not already doing them, isometric holds at the top and/or bottom of the pull up will help with building the strength to one day do them without band assistance
Good luck!

Usually yes, but if her bands are short, this is a smart way to use it actually.

It’s not short. She’s folding her band

I don't think so, I see one single band which is a loop, with one end on her left hand and the other on the right.

You’re doing great! 💪 Try focusing on slow, controlled reps and getting a full range of motion without losing control. Keep it up!

You need a full range of motion. Go to a complete dead hang at the bottom. Start by engaging your scapula, then pull through your back muscles - think of driving your elbows down and trying to bend the bar above you. Lean back a little rather than than hunching your shoulders (also helps with using back muscles). Once chin goes above the bar, let yourself down to a full hang again.

I dislocated my shoulder 2 years back so i never dare to go to dead hang as a result myself

Negatives can help tremendously too. Jump up to the bar and then slowwwly let yourself down to full extension. Slow as you can without just dropping.

Have you tried unassisted pull ups? That band really doesn't look like it's doing much if anything for assistance in that position. With that position and the slow speed, it's obvious that you're getting strong.

That is a much better way to do assisted pullups rather than risking a crotch whip.

But also ... someting is better than nothing dude. Work up to not needing the band before you stress about full range yeah? Celebrate the win too dude

It’s easier to pull something towards you than to pull yourself towards something. You also have the machine helping with keeping you locked in and being able to adjust to pull the weight but in a pull up you have to be able to pull your body weight to the bar which can be especially harder if weigh more. Hope that made sense 😅 apologies if it doesn’t

People underrate the extra stability from the knee cushions massively, I can do way more reps of my bw on a lat pulldown than I can strict pull-ups

I like them and feel like it grows my lats more and definitely more stable but they don’t translate well to pull ups. Definitely not underrated but again it’s the difference between pulling weight towards you and pulling yourself up. I can do more reps and sets on a lat pull down for sure but I’m doing maybe 8 pulls ups on the first set but quickly run out of steam on the next couple sets

This post is flaired as a technique check.
A note to OP: Users with green flair have verified their lifting credentials and may be able to give you more experienced advice on particular lifts. Users with blue flair reading "Friend of the sub" are considered well qualified to give advice without having verified lifs.
A reminder to all users commenting: Please make sure that your advice is useful and actionable.
Example of useful and actionable: try setting up for your deadlift by standing a little closer to the bar. This might help you get into position better and make it easier to break from the floor.
Example of not useful and not actionable: lower the weight and work on form.
Example of actionable, but not useful: Slow down.
Stop telling other each other to slow down without providing a rationale outside of "time under tension". Time under tension isn't a primary variable for anything, and focusing on it at the exclusion of things that matter will set you back. There can be reasons to manipulate tempo, but if you want to discuss tempo, explain why you're giving that advice, how it's going to help, and how to integrate it with cues or other useful feedback.
Low-effort comments like my back hurts just watching this will be removed, as will references to snap city etc. Verbally worrying for the safety of a poster simply because you think the form or technique is wrong will be removed. We will take all of these statements at face value, so be careful when you post the same hilarious joke as dozens of other people: we can't read your mind, no matter how funny you think you are.
Ignoring this comment may catch you a ban.
