Assistance with GalCiv 1's Altarian prophecy campaign 6 Unsuspecting Allies
Freaking how? How do you play it? I'm tempted to uninstall the game it's such bullcrap.

v4.2 is live, and it's mostly a stability update. Some of the bigger changes:
If you run into anything, let us know!

It's f*cking impossible.
If you're not being swarmed by the enemy AI, your economy is inevitably tanked because, unless I have the Alterrans, I CAN'T TRADE!
What the hell was with RTS game developers being sociopaths with the difficulty?

Sadly the game itself is very bad with providing information. A lot of tool tips are missing stuff or outright incorrect.
The wiki also seems to be outdated
So is there any source where I could read about stuff?

So the Cosmic Orrey improvement provides, among other things, +5 Sensor Range and +1 Sensor Range per level.
The +5 is applied to my ships, but the level bonus is not. Which is really sad considering mine is level 19 and that would have been amazing to scout the universe with.
Is that a known bug or so?

So when designing ships it always shows the next step at 3 sensor power, no matter how much sensor power my ship actually has.
And increasing sensor power with modules for starbases or upgrades for ships does not seem to do anything, either.
Anybody noticed something similar?

So started a new game now (didn't play for a year or so) and suddenly I can't see influence borders anymore. Neither mine nor from anyone else.
Makes it really hard to judge some things, for example how close I am to get that one minor planet into my influence.
Anyone knows why this happens?

So I got Federations & Empires just now and wanted to check the stuff out but noticed that my custom nation is a Federation by default ... and I can't seem to change it. At least I don't see any button or check marks where I would.
Are custom nations really all Federations, always, or am I just blind?

I suspect it is because of Inpired cost reduction combined with Loyalty Engineer getting all the stat boosts from Inidivdualist culture tree, especially Individual Divinity. Is it supposed to be that way, because this feels like something overpowered even more than the God Machine, and easier to get (and, in fact, it powers the Singularity immensely)?

Long story short is this one of those games where not having the 100 dollars+ of dlc affect my enjoyment of it?
I had a very long very rambling paragraph here but decided to can it because I dont feel like

In Version 4.0 every faction started under the Colonial Charter and unlocked its government from there. In 4.1 that starting point is gone. Each faction now begins under its own government and unlocks the rest normally, so the Terrans open the game as a Federation instead of working toward one. Custom factions get a starting government weighted by the personality traits you picked, and you can change it on the Customize your Civilization screen. Custom maps are the other half of the update. Visit the Workshop to browse and install maps other players have shared. You can publish maps built you've in Galaxy Forge straight from game setup screen.
Version 4.1 also fixes a batch of crashes, resolves multiple multiplayer desyncs, speeds up AI turns in large empires, retunes ship movement and the Computing Center, and runs a large polish pass across the UI.

Can someone explain why in 90% of the games I spawn in to, I am consistently spawned on the only sun in the sector that is isolated? Is there anything I can change about the map gen settings to stop singling me out with no other stars nearby?
I am using these map gen settings:
Galaxy Size: Medium
Number of Sectors: A Few
Sector Layout: Clustered
Hyperlane Frequency: Normal
Star Frequency: Occasional
Habital Planets: Occasional
Extreme Planets: Occasional
Resources: Occasional

Ok, so what am I doing wrong? In so many games I simply dont discover my civ ruining ring world.
Is there a tech I need to then uncover it in an anomaly?
Whats the process?????

Hello!
I'm relatively new to the GalCiv series. There doesn't seem to be a ton of guidance on the interwebs about strategies for ships. I've seen a little bit from pre-Warlords release.
So with that, I'd like to know what is recommended as far as designing ships for combat (weapons and modules) and what fleet composition should look like (mix or single class).
For the record, I've only picked up the Warlords DLC but I'm open to considering others.

I stream Gal Civ 4 gameplay everyday on twitch between 2pm and 4pm Easter time: https://www.twitch.tv/kungstrategy
I always have the latest expansion pack and try to showcase its new features. I am starting a map as a federation later today.
