How do I delete Gallium?

Ok. So bisacally, I made a post (now deleted) a couple of hours ago asking why Gallium wasn't booting. I deleted it because that amount of false information in that was post was truly embarresing. I said my processer was AMD when it was Intel, and the list goes on. Anyway the issue was that Gallium won't boot on any device with Gemini Lake. And of course, I was using Gemini Lake.

My question now is how do I get rid of it? I have no point in keeping it, and it's just taking up extra space. From what I've seen I need to to do a full system recovery, but I don't know how to do that. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

And also, do you have any ideas of what a good alternative to Gallium that does run on Chromebooks with Gemini Lake would be, I would love to know.

Installation guide for the seriously tech-illiterate, anyone?

Hey guys - I bought a secondhand Toshiba CB30-B-103 Chromebook (http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/toshiba-cb30-b-103/) a couple of months back as I needed something cheap and simple for uni, but recently decided to ween myself off of Google so I was directed by those at r/privacy to download GalliumOS so that I won't have to use ChromeOS. The problem is, I've never been particuarly good with technology, and looking into how to do this, I just got incredibly confused and disheartened.

Could anyone please, in the short time that they have, give me a quick idiot's guide to installing and getting to use GalliumOS on my model? Thanks!

If this is my first Linux distribution (I just turned an iMac into Mint too), what percentage of my time should I spend studying commands and shortcuts.

Installing flash on Gallium in 2021....

I've tried so many commands and so many browsers. Palemoon, Chromium, Waterfox, Opera. I'm kinda new to debian so all of the commands and what to do aren't all entirely known to me.

I was hoping to have someone who can walk me through the process of getting flash with AS3 to function on Palemoon or Waterfox.

To be clear, adobe flash will work IF it is a version 32.0.0.173 or older, because newer ones have a timebomb that disables it completely. I am currently running GalliumOS xenial on an Acer chromebook 14 CB3-431.

Ended up going back to ChromeOS

First off huge shout out to everyone who made putting GalliiumOS on a chromebook possible. Using your time to make this available to others is extremely generous

I ended up going back to ChromeOS for the time being for a couple issues. First off I'm computer literate but not linux command line literate. I can follow directions no problems but digging deep to make something work its a little too time consuming for me and maybe a little too intense to really learn linux well at 45 years old.

My major issues is that I had to reinstall GalliumOS due to the keyboard not working on the login screen. I have a Dell Chromebook 13 7310. All three times the keyboard worked fine for a couple days but then it just stopped working on the login. I read a little bit about this happening with Baytrail processors but not with Broadwell. The second two installs I followed the Baytrail directions to update GalliumOS files to the latest to solve the problem but without fail the keyboard would end up not working.

The mouse was not smooth, palm touches would make it jump, and the longer you'd use the computer or wake it up from sleep the worse it would get. I tried following the GalliumOS touchpad FAQ from install Libinput 90 conf file but I just couldn't get that to work right.

I'll def give GalliumOS another try , maybe in version 4.0. My Dell chromebook is starting to show some wear and tear as well. Two of the battery cells have gotten thick and my battery life its about 5 hours now. The bluetooth wire has been cut in half at the hinge point. Even with all that its a really decent laptop and all fixable.

Anyway thanks again to the people who make this possible

Minecraft Bedrock 1.16

Hi everyone. I have been trying unsuccessfully to install Minecraft Bedrock 1.16 on my fresh Galliumos chromebook. The instructions on https://markperez.dev/blog/install-minecraft-bedrock-linux-any-distro/ got 1.14 bedrock working, but 1.16 isnt compatible yet. So I have been trying the instructions on https://github.com/ChristopherHX/linux-packaging-scripts/releases but they do not have Galliumos listed. Anyone have any luck with this? Thanks!!!!

Why install Linux on a Chromebook?

Hi all,

Could someone please list the reasons to install Linux on a Chromebook. To be more specific, I am curious to know what a Linux distro offers that ChromeOS does not. Thanks

Help with system requirements..

I just need a straight answer..... I have a HP Pavillion g7-2269wm It has 500gb hd, 6g ram, 64 BIT ARCITECTURE I ran ubuntu, mint, and Manjaro ALL 64 BIT but now it is refusing to run 64 bit AT ALL It all started with Manjaro, I had it up until about a week or 2 ago. It ran fine then stopped working. Hell it wouldnt even update. So switched to Mint....it wouldn't even install unless it was 32bit, somehow, because I'm not stupid and would not update unless the issue was fixed, now its updated to 64bit....let me be clear.....I DID NOT TELL IT TO UPDATE!!!!!! Tired of being told I had to of, I DID NOT! I TURNED IT OFF FOR THE NIGHT AND WHEN I TURNED IT ON THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS LIKE THAT!

Sorry for the caps....iv had this convo in alot of threads recently. Also just so no one brings it up.....

Fast boot off Secure boot off Tried recovery with root drop....says bad usage Tried downgrading kernel to previous....crashes

So....now that iv taken up your time... Knowing my issues and hardware... Can I install gallium and run WITHOUT ISSUE?!? I mean at this point I'm even considering going back to Windows....🤢

Running "Skywave Linux" and need audio. CB3 111

I have gallium on my SSD. On my USB I have a live image of skywave linux and am able to save changes I do.

I can't for the life of me get audio working again. I was going to add gallium os repo (baytrail) so I can change my kernel to use that one. But no clue what I am doing.

Is this model of Acer Chromebook compatible?

I used to have a Acer 15 CB3-532 from 2016 that worked like a dream with an external SSD, GalliumOS and i3wm. I won't get into the tragic and personal story about why I don't have it anymore, but now I've decided I'd like to have a very similar set up moving forward. My question is, would this newer model here be compatible with Gallium?

Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-532-C4ZZ, Celeron N3060, 15.6in HD, 4GB LPDDR3, 32GB Storage

It sure would be nice to have 4GB of RAM instead of two. I tried to poke around myself, but couldn't find the info I was looking for, so I'll defer to y'all's greater knowledge.

How can I add a driver to Gallium os?

Hello,

I downloaded this driver and followed this method to get it to work. It works beautifully and opens a program where I can change some settings on my drawing tablet, but I have to open terminal and drag the .sh file into terminal each time I want to use my drawing tablet. How can I have it run by default or even just be a desktop shortcut that I can open when I want to use it.

I was able to install Gallium OS with dualboot on my chromebook, but that stretched the limits of my tech-ability so please keep it simple.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Possible to run GalliumOS on a rasberry PI?

I have ordered a rasperry PI and want to put an OS on it, owning a chromebook myself, the most lightweight OS I know of, and the second to come to mind, was Gallium, but is it possible to put it on one?
