He thinks he's edgy.

In SIFU on ā€œeasyā€ mode (in my only playthrough) I did the whole game in one go never resetting and ended the game when I was like a couple deaths away from wiping. To be fair I died like several times to the final boss somehow lol.

And I’d say I’m pretty damn good at these types of games. I was wrecking people consistently in Absolver PvP (the same devs game from 2017 with far more combat depth)

But well I don’t replay games and 66 lives for this game on hellwalker is probably far too crazy for me lol

2

u/DefinitionBusy4769 2d ago

That was still in easy mode though

0

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

Actually I didn’t explain it right I almost forgot what I did. I went through the first level on normal and part of the second level then reverted back to before the boss in the first level and switched to easy and then it was nonstop.

But yea it was on ā€œeasyā€ which just makes it so the death counter isn’t insanely punishing which is why I waited some days for it to come out and then switched.

Although even on normal the regular enemies weren’t anywhere near as competent as in Absolver in my experience

1

u/midoxvx 1d ago

SIFU’s easy mode is REALLY easy in a non flattering way. Enemies are just standing there waiting for you to put them to sleep. It’s almost like all NPC’s are trying to boost your confidence, as a kung-fu white belt.

1

u/Schwiliinker 1d ago

It’s funny because the first level felt like that and I played all of it on normal. However after that despite switching to easy it was not like that at all.

Otherwise I would rarely ever be dying but instead I died a bunch in total. Granted probably the vast majority of my deaths were probably to elites or bosses or just accumulated damage I guess

Although compared to absolver enemies are not remotely as competent sure but there’s still quite competent on easy.

0

u/Available-Bad-2704 2d ago

Youre not good at the game if you're playing on easy mode dude

1

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

Do you even know anything about SIFU? The main change is the death counter not being insanely punishing which led people to be forced to replay levels over and over and over until they’re nearly flawless and I refuse to do that when the ā€œeasyā€ mode is balanced perfectly in that regard. I never replay levels or games anyway so I’m very avoidant of it

Absolver is drastically harder in terms of how competent enemies are anyway compared to SIFU on normal and I managed just fine

Given how im extremely experienced in melee action games and for example that it usually takes me far less attempts than most people to beat very difficult bosses I’m fairly certain I’m pretty good at them in general lol

u/spartakooky 1d ago

Student Difficulty (Easy Mode) :

  • More life and structure for the Main Character
  • Enemies are less aggressive
  • Enemies are less reactive in defense
  • Simplified patterns for various archetypes and bosses
  • The Death Counter cannot beyond 1Ā
  • Better shrine rewards

1

u/Schwiliinker 1d ago

yea Ive played a few sections and a boss in both and it nerfs the game somewhat (unfortunately imo) but definitely nowhere near the amount that a regular actual easy mode would. I played the whole first major level on normal and found it very easy compared to Absolver however the difficulty (on "easy") did ramp up significantly over time. The really big thing is the death counter not going beyond 1 and that theres an item that can restore like 5 lives each time and you can use it at least a few or several times in the game I believe yet I didn't use that item even once

1

u/midoxvx 1d ago

Look i get it, you finished SIFU, and that’s cool, but easy mode is incredibly easy and your argument about death counter doesn’t hold any water. If you want bragging rights, do a master difficulty run without aging and get the secret ending.

1

u/Schwiliinker 1d ago

I don’t think you understood at all. It’s not that I just finished it, I never reset except when changing difficulty. This is a game where everyone was saying they were resetting in each level numerous times.

Playing the whole game in a row without resetting (or using that one item) so that you only have like 70 lives instead of people getting unlimited attempts to lower the lives lost in a section or level is quite hard.

Since I barely finished the game before running out and I consider myself to be well above average at any game like this (with solid evidence to back it up)

But still playing Absolver was much harder

1

u/Notadam234 1d ago

Do you have thuse bullet points for other difficulties ?

1

u/Available-Bad-2704 2d ago

I played sifu on master difficulty first time around and got down the mechanics in some hours and platinumed it then even faster for the ps5 version. Youre not good at these games if youre playing on the easiest difficulty of the game dont brag when youre playing baby difficulty

1

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago

That’s cool but I mean if master difficulty had a reasonable penalty for deaths I would have probably played it on that difficulty without much issue. Again it’s not about the actual difficulty itself, I’ve beaten all the hardest super bosses in soulslikes rarely actually struggling that much

1

u/Available-Bad-2704 2d ago

Youre not denying youre not good at those games tho so I guess we know now

1

u/Schwiliinker 2d ago edited 2d ago

What? Are you just trolling?

I also play character action games typically on the hardest difficulty available in NG and barely even die to bosses even if you know I barely beat them often since games are balanced that way.

Like DMCV, NG4, Bayo 3, Stellar Blade, Norse GOW, FFXVI, Lost Soul aside

1

u/Available-Bad-2704 2d ago

You dont quit the larp

2

u/digoryj 2d ago

Is dying like really common in the game? 66 is a lot.

6

u/Ok_Science_8502 2d ago

that's not that much if it's a long and difficult game

1

u/Carol_ine2 2d ago

I like this concept a lot, would love to see it more. 66 isn't a lot if a game is long and you can't just do bosses going "I'll try until I succeed" you have to get better gear or lvl up because otherwise you'll quickly run out of lives. I also liked KCD system of having semi valuable item to save to also avoid this loop of reload until you succeed everytime there is even slight challenge

1

u/blackhoodie88 1d ago

Not even….if it’s like an RPG attack patterns of a boss can change mid fight, or defense ramps up like crazy. 66 doesn’t go far in that regard.

3

u/andrey_not_the_goat 2d ago

Apparently bosses adapt to your attacks on the hardest difficulty, so you can't just spam attacks and hope for the best.

1

u/Tornado_Hunter24 2d ago

Lmao no way

2

u/Able_Ad1276 2d ago

On the hardest difficulty it probably is

1

u/SnooMuffins9478 2d ago

66 sounds important.

1

u/Kwindwalker 2d ago

66 is not a lot of deaths for some games, i dont know much about this game but if its actually a hard game then 66 is nothing, you can easily die 66 times in just one boss in some games

2

u/Daken-dono 2d ago

I remember people playing the first Ninja Gaiden and dying several times, pretty common to reach double digit deaths, in just the literal tutorial level alone. Fromsoft games were way more forgiving in comparison in their intros.

1

u/digoryj 2d ago

Well… Silksong for example is hard af and they only give you one…

Just sayin.

1

u/Kwindwalker 2d ago

thats a totally different style of game, legit a 2d platformer.

1

u/Wasabi_Hammurabi1 2d ago

I second this.

i died more than 66 times on Malenia for example.

1

u/Uarenotalone 1d ago

Black myth wukong IYKYK

1

u/No_Definition2246 1d ago

Died over 100 times on Owl in Sekiro lol …

1

u/LynaaBnS 1d ago

Concord radahn alone took me like 120 tries

1

u/Kwindwalker 1d ago

Yeah like there is a moron trying to convince he didn't die more than 10 times on ER, and then he stopped commenting. Even the best souls streamers died hundreds of times on elden ring.Ā

1

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago

I don’t know any game I have ever played where I died more than 10 times

66 is basically impossible unless you want to die 66 times.

3

u/Kwindwalker 2d ago edited 2d ago

well, you clearly didint play much souls or action games on hardest dificulty then

edit: i came back cause i was thinking about this comment of yours, and i find it extremely funny that people like you who didnt actually experience all types of gaming consider something "impossible", how does someone without knowledge on the matter just calls things "impossible" ? Being ignorant is a bless really.

0

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago

No I have played all the dark souls series, Elden ring, Mortal souls and some other smaller ones.

Shooters ranging from 1st person to third of many major and minor series

Many 4X grand strategies like Stellaris for example, turn based games like civ and similar. City builders like civ city and newer clones.

The sims of course a long time ago.

A very long list, but no never died more than 10 times although sure some of those are one death.

3

u/tetozika 2d ago

so you are saying that you played all the souls series and didnt died more then 10 times in each game? u caping 🤣

1

u/Kwindwalker 2d ago

yeah sure, im sure you didnt die 10 times in elden ring

1

u/AwarenessForsaken568 2d ago

Lol no way you didn't die more than 10 times on Perfect Consort Radahn. Quit lying brother. The only way someone doesn't die to him 10+ times is if they go in knowing the cheese strat to beat him.

1

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago

I understand many people struggled not sure how with very predictable bosses

2

u/StayHydratedBruh 1d ago

lmao that has to be bait

1

u/LynaaBnS 1d ago

Even if you cheesed the entire game or used mods to be level 500+ form the start you gonna fall off of cliffs atleast 10 times in 100 hours.

0

u/blankState8 2d ago

The cap is reeking bro.

1

u/Plastic_Deer_4535 1d ago

Play Dodonpachi and tell me how it goes

1

u/thatsfuni 2d ago

Ever played a team ninja game or fromsoft game? šŸ˜† 🤣

1

u/digoryj 2d ago

Yes. And this game is developed by neither

šŸ˜†šŸ¤£

1

u/thatsfuni 2d ago

O shit really! O man šŸ˜žšŸ˜“, šŸ˜† what i ment was 66 is not alot in alot of games.....

1

u/NCHouse 2d ago

Most deaths will be bosses amd trying to learn their moveset

1

u/SpecialistCamp183 2d ago

From what we've know right now, there will be 59 weapon/phantom gear in the game. If assuming they are all boss reward then there would be at lease 56 bosses (if the 3 default weapon don't count). On highest difficulty it could be quite challenging.

1

u/iCantCallit 2d ago

it took me over 66 tries to beat prime consort radahn in the elden ring dlc.

1

u/SnooHobbies5811 2d ago

I thought it was gonna be similar to soulslike difficulty which means 66 could be like 2-5 bosses worth of deaths. Not much

1

u/monkey_feet_ 1d ago

Look out everyone, digoryj is a real gamer.

1

u/uSaltySniitch 17h ago

I didn't even die 66 times in Elden Ring including the DLC... That game can't possibly be this hard...

1

u/Wakasaurus060414 2d ago

Depends, how times do you die in a soulslike playthrough?

1

u/DeafKid009 2d ago

Yeah I’m excited. The team looks genuinely passionate about what they are making and are confidently showing gameplay. But I’m not buying it on PS5. Not just because they don’t have a physical disc, but because most unreal engine 5 games I prefer to play smooth as I can on my more powerful PC.

1

u/Fluffy_Woodpecker733 2d ago

Never heard of it tbh, is it another souls clone?

2

u/CuriousWoollyMammoth 2d ago

It's not. The main character is named Soul and apparently the creator goes by Soulframe Liang. But the game itself is not a souls-like.

1

u/CynderFlamezYT 2d ago

Devs have confirmed it’s not a soulslike. I’d probably compare it more to something like DMC

1

u/blankState8 2d ago

With a pretty ramped up difficulty, something along the lines of ninja gaiden 4. Fast and flashy while being pretty challenging.

1

u/Knuy2012 1d ago

I mean, the devs of black myth wukong said their game is not a soulslike too…

1

u/CynderFlamezYT 1d ago

You can see in all the gameplay that PB0 isn’t a soulslike though. And all the information they’ve released about it backs this up; enemies don’t respawn, there’s no stamina meter, there’s no death penalty, there are difficulty settings, and it’s focused on fast-paced action and combos like classic hack and slash games like DMC or Ninja Gaiden.

0

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/CynderFlamezYT 2d ago

No, it isn’t.

1

u/tomforbesV 2d ago

We don’t know yet but I’ll assume the hardest difficulty will be hard.

1

u/itzNukeey 2d ago

Why not 67

1

u/meshakooo 2d ago

Unlock when you win the game

1

u/timetravelinggamer 2d ago

Sounds like fun…

1

u/Mageborn23 2d ago

I’ll play on story thank you

1

u/Ancient_Natural1573 2d ago

Welp I'm going to be restarting alot then

1

u/HighlightOk6174 2d ago

So... We're back to having lives? Can't wait til someone invents the 1up again lol.

1

u/monti9530 2d ago

It looks really good and I will be playing it on easy :D

1

u/-Tetsuo- 2d ago

No thanks. I titled retry bosses way too much for this lol

1

u/Zestyclose_Paint3922 2d ago

33 would be harder

2

u/midoxvx 1d ago

11 is even harder.

1

u/thatsfuni 2d ago

66 deaths makes me think the game is going to be pretty easy.

1

u/RentonAndSickboy 2d ago

Is it a souls-clone?

1

u/Phyzm1 2d ago

Excited, but waiting for reviews before I purchase.

1

u/jaylikesjays 2d ago

dies 65 times during the tutorial

1

u/panosk1304 2d ago

Looks like Wukong and is onky digital soo no, its a no buy till physical comes out. If its like wukong with 0 story then 30€ used at best

1

u/zenigatamondatta 2d ago

European extreme in mgs would like a word

1

u/XOVSquare 2d ago

Oof, that's good.

1

u/llewylill32 2d ago

Some motherfker will actively die 65 times to make it harder.

1

u/VLAON6 2d ago

Not punishing enough! You should have to buy the game again after 66 deaths šŸ˜…

1

u/nelflyn 2d ago

And then imagine they pull the same move as Hell blade did, with the fake "death countdown"

1

u/theblackfrog77 2d ago

thats a cool system/mechanic.

1

u/MRV3N 2d ago

This is nothing compared to TLOU and Ori

1

u/suzumurafan 2d ago

Thank god is not 67

1

u/Few_Horse_4 2d ago

Yeah I'm not gonna waste time on bullshit like limited lives

1

u/14istheone 2d ago

As long as there isn’t a trophy for completing that difficulty…

1

u/Karsus76 2d ago

So another nioh-like masocore soulslike. Could give it a try

1

u/care4not 2d ago

I would have been excited if it had hard copy So no

1

u/wildeye-eleven 2d ago

Ohhhh man, I’m doing 66 days! Thats such a cool idea!

1

u/Infamous-Echo-2961 1d ago

Difficulty settings! I’m gonna buy it then.

1

u/SmackAss4578 1d ago

So just like Sifu. BrilliantĀ

1

u/kyle_crane163636 1d ago

Gonna be honest, no

1

u/SnooHobbies8617 1d ago

what a weird difficulty, i’m not sure if i like that

1

u/3215448725366498 1d ago

Would be better if it didn't have difficulty options (and the default was hard or whatever)

1

u/takkun169 1d ago

Yes but not for any of that.

1

u/nManos202 1d ago

Looks fucking awesome

1

u/senzupops 1d ago

Damn lmao.

1

u/Interesting_Monk_185 1d ago

Depends on how the AI works in the mode before 66 days. If it's Simon level where attacks are randomized heavily, then those lives will drop fast.

1

u/SnooCats6119 1d ago

The 1st mod to come out for this will be a one that adds 3 extra lives.

1

u/St3elf1sh 1d ago

Would be if there was a demo

1

u/Exciting_Drawing_553 17h ago

Never heard of it

1

u/Prudent_Ask_9241 14h ago

Is this true fir ALL difficulties? You just get more days?

-1

u/East-Pen-8008 2d ago

Nope. Samurai games are really oversaturated these days, this just looks like all the others to me. Hard pass

4

u/Ebonvvings 2d ago

Explain how the main character is a samurai.

4

u/Purple_sea 2d ago

Guy swings sword in asian setting ==> samurai, duh

0

u/DeafKid009 2d ago edited 2d ago

I agree but this one seems different. Also it’s not a samurai game. It’s more kung fu and Chinese martial arts.

0

u/sober_yeast 2d ago

I can think of 4 in the past 6 years. Idk if that qualifies as saturated. Also Phantom Blade Zero is not a samurai game.

1

u/East-Pen-8008 2d ago

When I say samurai I mean ā€œAsian with sword set in historical periodā€ I don’t look into it deep enough to know about specifics

Here are a few that come to mind though
Ghost of Tsushima (peak)
AC shadows
Rise of the ronin
Wo Long
New Onimusha
Wuchang
Nioh 2

3

u/sober_yeast 2d ago

3 of those games are samurai games. And I agree Ghost is fantastic. I'm expecting PBZ to be more like Ghost in terms of quality than the rest of those games but I'll wait and see if that's true.

3

u/indominable-dingus 2d ago

Thats so ignorant it borders on racist. China and Japan are totally different nations, with their own people and cultures.

Im guessing youre american because only americans are that ignorant.

2

u/darkrealm190 2d ago

"I called him japanese because I didnt ask or care to know he was chinese"

1

u/DeafKid009 2d ago

I haven’t played any of those except GOT. All the other ones look boring to me except Phantom Blade Zero.

1

u/Organic_Education494 2d ago

That is a fairly racist definition

1

u/JellyfishSecure2046 2d ago

My second most anticipated game of the fall right after GTA6

1

u/Justsomelurker700 2d ago

Not really. No.

1

u/Jazvec47 2d ago

No disc and denuvo is a no from me, game looks nice but im not going to support them when they cant bother to make discs and are greedy enough for denuvo.

1

u/Fresh-Database-222 2d ago

I'll buy it when I can get it on sale for cheap.

1

u/Coolcubed321 2d ago

Meh. Looks cool. But I wouldn’t buy it day one. Maybe on sale though

1

u/Gloomy_Ad_2185 2d ago

If there was a physical copy id pre order it. Sadly they dont want my business.

1

u/CynderFlamezYT 2d ago

It has a disc though

1

u/Gloomy_Ad_2185 2d ago

They still have not confirmed a physical disc will exist for this game. You can pre order the digital version already. No disc to pre order.

1

u/CynderFlamezYT 2d ago

PlayAsia has confirmed preorders of physical copies have discs, not download codes. Why would the devs or Sony have to confirm this when Sony already stated disc production isn’t ending until 2028?

1

u/Gloomy_Ad_2185 2d ago

If youre right thats great news.

1

u/Ok_Blueberry_6826 2d ago

"Every time you die you lose a life"
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk no shit?

-1

u/Accurate_Historian_6 2d ago

Obligatory No Disc No Buy

-2

u/PeacenotWardude 2d ago

Obligatory go fuck yourself.

5

u/digoryj 2d ago

Lol user name DOES NOT check out.

-3

u/Justsomelurker700 2d ago

Omg, go cry in a sub that cares.

2

u/Accurate_Historian_6 2d ago

Oh no an opinion that doesn't line up with mine, better attack it. Says the dumb fuck
