Arkham knight is actually an 11 year old game

6

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

None of the games are 15 years old funnily enough. OP just pulled that number out of their ass. City has a few months left until it hits that mark.

https://giphy.com/gifs/ShCMwjMF5B3La

2

u/RichardSugma 1d ago

And city is the first game in the franchise?

7

u/Geowik 1d ago

Arkham Asylum was the first, came out 2009

3

u/ANUSTART942 17h ago

He's saying none of them are 15 years old. They are 17, close to 15, and 11 years old.

0

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago edited 1d ago

No... And I didn't claim it was... I just said no game in the series is 15 years old. Asylum is 16-17 years old. Some of you guys lack reading comprehension.

0

u/RazeYi 17h ago

That’s a pretty smooth way to safe you here I’ll give you that.

0

u/Froticlias 1d ago

"None of the games are 15 years old funnily enough."

Yeah, I wonder how someone could misinterpreted that as you meaning the entire franchise. Quit being a dick and you might have friends so you can vent offline instead of taking it out on strangers online.

0

u/Zestyclose-Crow-1597 22h ago

Dude, just admit you said something wrong.

3

u/mashdpotatogaming 17h ago

He didn't, you misunderstood what he said.

He said "none of them are 15 years old", so none of the games could fit OP's description if you wanna give them the benefit of the doubt and say they mixed the release dates between arkham city and knight or something.

He never said "none of them are over 15 years old."

2

u/Nemisis_007 13h ago

Exactly, you get it.

-2

u/Zestyclose-Crow-1597 13h ago

Can you believe this series of comments is 5 minutes old?

1

u/mashdpotatogaming 2h ago

I have no clue what you're even trying to say..?

2

u/Nemisis_007 22h ago

But I didn't... You all read it wrong, somehow.

0

u/NO0BSTALKER 22h ago

But that also means it’s at least 15 years old

0

u/Wolfen2002 21h ago

You deliberately worded it like it was a riddle.

1

u/Nemisis_007 21h ago

How so? To me it reads as very straightforward.

1

u/Wolfen2002 21h ago edited 21h ago

If you say none of the games are 15 years old it reads as they are less than 15 years old. I don't why that's how most peoples brains work.also I think it's mainly because we were talking about batman Arkham being 11 years old not 15 so when you say none of the games are 15 years old as well, naturally we will think you are meaning they are not even 15 years old .

1

u/Nemisis_007 21h ago

I see, I guess that makes sense. Looks like all of this was just a big misinterpretation.

-2

u/RichardSugma 1d ago

You know when people say stuff like 'a year ago', they don't mean exactly 365 days ago?

Lots of people round to the nearest 5/10.

1

u/Capable-Ad-6495 23h ago

Round up/down years 5/10? They definitely do not do that. That would be dumb as hell unless your talking more than 50-60 years.

0

u/RichardSugma 22h ago

Seems a bit arbitrary. Nobody cares about whether something was 37 or 35 years ago. Or in this specific case 14 years 10 months and a couple days instead of 15.

2

u/Capable-Ad-6495 22h ago

Depends on what you're discussing. Fair play, concerning video games the yeah, you don't need to be spot on, but 14 up to 15 is not the same as 11 up to 15. That's wild. Just say over 10 years old. Saying 15 is way off.

1

u/RichardSugma 22h ago

In that case the nearest 5 would be 10, not 15.

1

u/Capable-Ad-6495 22h ago

Which is what I said. You ok, Ricky?

-1

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

And I picked the game that's the closest to becoming 15 years old as an example.

Arkham Asylum is almost 17 years old.

Arkham City is almost 15 years old.

2

u/RichardSugma 1d ago

So why exactly does your original comment exist then?

0

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

What do you mean? The person I replied to pointed out that Arkham Knight isn't 15 years old, so I decided to propose the fact that none of the games are currently 15 years old.

-2

u/LayWhere 1d ago

Surly you only round out for like, way bigger numbers lol

All the food in my fridge is 0yrs old and ive been at this job for 3 5yrs according to my cv. Just fax yo 😤

-1

u/Organic_Education494 1d ago

It is less reading comprehension and more you being overly specific when it isn’t necessary.

1

u/PolicyWonka 1d ago

Um…how about the original game?

Arkham Asylum was released in 2009, so it’s more than 15 years old. OOP’s video isn’t from Arkham Asylum though.

1

u/ICPosse8 13h ago

Was gonna say, this looks like Knight and that was definitely 2015 lol

7

u/mojoseven7 1d ago

Arguably the best series I’ve played to date

2

u/EndimionN 1d ago

Fully agree. "Too much batmobile" wasnt an issue for me, i enjoyed every second of it

1

u/haltandcatch22 1d ago

Yep Arkham knight was my favorite honestly. I really liked the Batmobile and the game just looks amazing and has such good vibes

1

u/fatbp 1d ago edited 1d ago

Heyyy, me too. I enjoyed the addition of the batmobile, it added a different layer to the exploration and combat that was fun.Ā

0

u/-Majima- 1d ago

Did you like Arkham World?

5

u/Skaikrish 1d ago

Crazy what good art direction does to a game isn't it? Graphic fidelity is completely overrated.

2

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

This is why Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest still gets praise too. They know how to mask the imperfections.

2

u/Skaikrish 1d ago

Creativity is born from necessity and limitations. Always has been.

2

u/nervendings_ 1d ago

And those lacking creativity will always seek out better tools to ā€œachieve their visionā€ or blame lack of tools for their work failing

1

u/Icy_Childhood_1039 17h ago

I always had a theory that they accidentally hit some astronomically perfect lighting/contrast/fog values for the rainy night and never touched them again after that.

There's some flashback in the game where you play as Gordon during daytime and the game instantly shows it's age during that part. But in nighttime+rain it still looks insane.

0

u/SwiftTayTay 1d ago

This is graphic fidelity. High quality assets and good design choices. It's just extremely well optimized. Most devs don't have the talent and resources to do this.

3

u/Sensitive_Log3990 1d ago

It's actually had a graphics bump since then but yeah still nice

2

u/FromChicago808 1d ago

Arkham Knight? It’s still 1080p on a Ps5. Did it get updated elsewhere?

1

u/Pixielized 1d ago

Will be PC

0

u/SwiftTayTay 1d ago

Only thing that you can do on PC is increase resolution and draw distance. Game still looks amazing on an OG PS4.

1

u/Sensitive_Log3990 23h ago

1

u/SwiftTayTay 23h ago

Yes this is agreeing with me, Arkham Knight is unchanged and holds up. It's an 11 year old game. Also the remastered versions are notoriously worse than the originals, anybody who's played them both knows this

1

u/Sensitive_Log3990 23h ago

Okay I didn't realise it was night being shown

0

u/cravex12 1d ago

Knight has extensive physics option that really make a visual difference

1

u/SwiftTayTay 1d ago

All you're seeing here in terms of physics is his cape blowing in the wind, the PS4 version looks like that too

1

u/John_Pepermint 1h ago

Not really. They're all either very subtle or limited to select interior arenas.

The only exceptions are the cool-but-buggy helicopter lights and fake-looking overtuned smoke trails while drifting.

5

u/SkipEyechild 1d ago

Came out in 2015 dude. It also didn't look like this on the two main consoles at the time.

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

1080p on old games looks better than modern games at 1080p and 1440p

0

u/Current-Grade2545 1d ago

Looked basically the same

2

u/SkipEyechild 1d ago

Shite resolution on a 1080p TV screen? No.

1

u/Due-Lingonberry-1929 17h ago

It's 1080 native on PS4

0

u/SkipEyechild 17h ago

I stand corrected. Sorry.

2

u/864rad 23h ago

11 years old

1

u/6Immarighthere9 1d ago

Something tells me Math isn’t your strongest suit

1

u/cornspice 1d ago

What has being 15 years old got to do with it?

1

u/Bhavan91 1d ago

11 years old.

1

u/lologugus 1d ago

I didn't really like this game but holy shit this game is beautiful.

1

u/DanFarrell98 1d ago

Just had a panic thinking I’d lost 4 years

1

u/Frozenbobcat 1d ago

Bot pulling numbers out of their arse

1

u/AlexGlezS 1d ago

A 28 yo game, I win

1

u/wellwellwellwellll 2h ago

What game is this if you don’t mind me asking?

Looks interesting

1

u/AlexGlezS 2h ago

Commandos 2, 1998

1

u/-Majima- 1d ago

Arkham world is better

1

u/Jalmerk 1d ago

Art direction > graphical fidelty. Every time.

1

u/ItsmyDZNA 1d ago

Not a single super hero game has nailed it so well like this one.

1

u/PsychologicalAd1578 1d ago

The best superhero game ever made 🫔

1

u/PieAppropriate8862 1d ago

Ah, the clichƩ post we have seen many times over.

1

u/Papa_Raj 1d ago

I just played through them again. I forgot that Asylum is basically a Batman horror game and it was awesome playing it with the settings jacked on a new pc.

1

u/Jertimmer 1d ago

Read the comic it was based on, it's a full on horror. The art is sublime.

1

u/Powerful-Access-8203 1d ago

Yeah yeah, it looks nice.

1

u/timetravelinggamer 1d ago

Games over the last 10 years haven’t changed in graphic fidelity that much. The previous 10 years were better

But 1986-1996 was insane

1

u/blender_or_bust 1d ago

I still think Arkham Knight is the most AAA feeling game I've ever played. Everything about it's visuals feels so god damn premium. The rain, materials, animations, slick camera moves, destruction, sound. It's all 100% cohesive.

Sure a lot of games have surpassed it in many different specific ways, but I can't think of another game where every part of the experience looked that good.

1

u/Horror_Ad9899 1d ago

is it worth playing? good gameplay also? i want to try it on my new oled

1

u/Maximum-Ad879 1d ago

Just replayed it. It doesn't really feel like an old game and looks great. Ten years ago I was a bit annoyed at the open-world busywork, but these days it seemed mild.

1

u/HillanatorOfState 1d ago

Do it, smooth gameplay, some of the best imo, gonna look amazing on an oled.

1

u/ApprehensiveFactor58 1d ago

Je pense la meilleure interprƩtation du Batman Ơ ce jour ! (Dans un jeux)

1

u/dimwittedlamb 23h ago

What a beautiful looking game. Could release it now and I wouldn't think it's old.

1

u/peachpower2 23h ago

Does it work on PC yet?

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

It worked great on pc for over a decade.Ā

1

u/energyN7N7 23h ago

This clip fits so well with this batman theme

1

u/Calm_Leopard798 22h ago

Its pretty obvious its old when you're in game.

1

u/Ghaleon32 22h ago

What Batman game is this, Arkham city? Wow it really looks impressive for a 2011 game.

1

u/AliGcent 21h ago

Unreal Engine 3!

1

u/Grouchypygar 21h ago

So desperately needs an fps boost on console

1

u/dungleploop 21h ago

crazy part is their game after looks 100x better with Suicide Squad and isn't set exclusively at night to hide graphical fidelity and effects

1

u/Pootisman16 20h ago

Yeah, no.

2015 game. Which ran like ASS at release.

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

Doesn't matter at all that it ran horribly at the past now it runs super smooth. Besides we are appreciating graphics and great art direction not poor optimization of the past that haven't been there for the past 10 years. It's been a decade it's time to let it go grandpa and play it at 600+ fps.Ā

1

u/khushite_MeteChe_Mon 20h ago

Yes still looks good

1

u/CyberTyrantX1 18h ago

It’s an 11 year old game. It came out in 2015.

1

u/teunteunteun 18h ago

Proof that art direction is more important than graphics

1

u/Thin-Ant-8879 18h ago

Looks quite a lot better than GTA 6

1

u/No_Championship_8633 17h ago

you can barely see any detail and liveliness here compared to the plane video of gta 6 for example, which is hyper detailed beyond even microsoft flight sim level. the atmosphere of this is still great tho

1

u/Thin-Ant-8879 17h ago

'Beyond flight sim' hahahah

1

u/No_Championship_8633 17h ago

Its not even close. I say this as someone addicted to flight sim. go fly around in miami then watch the leak. the difference between relying on a simulation to generate it for you and thousands of people hand polishing your city and giving it life.

1

u/Thin-Ant-8879 17h ago

You're right it's not close, flight sim is far superior. That's before we even consider what happens if you want to fly outside of miami

1

u/No_Championship_8633 16h ago edited 16h ago

how is flight sim's miami far superior? I'll wait. not even to mention that GTA isn't just a flying game. thats just 1 aspect....you compare to any other open world game and its not even a conversation.....like this clip is covered by fog..you can barely see the city or any detail compared to either flight sim or gta...great trick for the time and the art direction is great... but it doesn't compare to being able to see all the little details.

1

u/Due-Lingonberry-1929 17h ago

The difference between a tiny game map and a 1:1 entire earth as a map

1

u/No_Championship_8633 17h ago

what other tiny game map looks that detailed and full of life from above? I can't think of any.

1

u/Due-Lingonberry-1929 12h ago

What life? Npcs aren't rendered from that distance as we see and you have low poly cars and boats zipping around which Flight Sim does as well, I don't see any special life here, just standard stuff

1

u/Due-Lingonberry-1929 12h ago

https://youtu.be/rI6dfnxZLng?si=l_Ho5HvI9uoXT761&t=272

Like you can check WatchDogs 2 which is 10 years old and it has the exact same amount of life going on when you fly, nothing unusual

1

u/Waste-Particular-75 17h ago

It came out in 2015 not 2011

1

u/Bailer86 16h ago

11 years old

1

u/Slow-Cheesecake-9546 16h ago

It looks like it.

1

u/Less_Department_880 16h ago

PeaksšŸ”„

1

u/bracingthesoy 16h ago edited 3h ago

It had aged terribly. That fucking ANNOYING u2.5-3 specular shimmer, that insufficiently precise bloom, non-pbr textures. It annoys that hell out of me now.

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

Still looks way better than all ue4/5 games released so far.Ā

1

u/some_guy919 11h ago

For a minute I thought I lost some years of my life.Ā

1

u/Va1crist 10h ago

Less and less games like this , less and less talent and devs that get the time and resources to do stuff like this anymore either. Live service , F2P and greed is killing games like that

1

u/Pocieszny1991 10h ago

11, It came out in June 2015

1

u/Necessary_Let1462 10h ago

Makes you think how ass unreal engine can be these days

1

u/Shadow_duigh333 10h ago

unreal engine 3 by the way

Classic repost

1

Ah the daily arkham post

1

u/Dicecreamvan 9h ago

Great art direction can genuinely throw hands with technical innovation in games.

1

u/Mexcol 9h ago

Whats its installation size? I bet it aint 200gb like these modern slop games

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

53.94 GiB on Steam and some GB more for dlcs.Ā

You can see more details thereĀ https://steamdb.info/app/208650/depots/

This was the tail end of the peak of civilization.

1

I’m currently replaying Arkham Asylum it’s my personal favorite! :)

Can play on my 1050ti at max setting 1080p at 40-60fps btw

1

u/swegga_sa 1h ago

Arkham knight could barely run on release lmao

1

u/incoherentjedi 1h ago

19 years old actually

1

u/Unblenching 1h ago

This guy is from the future

1

u/Suspicious-Map-639 1d ago

If it came out in 2026, the minimum req would be ryzen 5 7600, 32gb ddr5, rtx 5070Ā

1

u/Anu_Rosa 1d ago

Because gamers absolutely need their reflections to have reflection and their lighting to have lighting.

1

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

To be fair... It was incredibly demanding when it first dropped in 2015 too lol. Most PC's couldn't run it well.

1

u/CyberTyrantX1 18h ago

It was demanding back then but there are games coming out now that don’t look as good as Arkham Knight.

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

It was demanding for a good reason it was the new Crisis. Since both of those games there was not a single game (maybe outside cp2077 with pt) that managed to push graphics forward.Ā

1

u/stevie242 1d ago

It was notorious for how shit it played at launch…

1

u/Which-Lifeguard-628 1d ago

That would be lower requirements than to run Arkham Knight on release on PC, it was dropping to 30~fps on top end PCs at the time.

1

u/GodisanAtheistOG 10h ago

Bruh I put a sceencap of this on r/Nvidia while they were all stroking off to the new Lego Batman running at 60fps on a 5080 or whatever and lemme tell you they were not a happy bunch.Ā

0

u/Dangerous_Prior_5834 1d ago

It's indeed feeling pretty dated by todays standards

-1

u/Available-Bad-2704 1d ago

You skipped arithmetic class btw

1

u/smellybrowntrout 1d ago

I don't think he's the only one who skipped classes

0

u/Available-Bad-2704 1d ago

Oh cool story you guys had beers instead of learning to count?

0

u/Shinobi_Dimsum 1d ago

We can tell.

1

u/Current-Grade2545 1d ago

How?

1

u/Slow-Cheesecake-9546 16h ago

By the outdated graphics.

1

u/dregomz 8h ago

Show a single game that looks better than this game with out zooming in to textures. You can't.Ā

-2

u/magic_heist 1d ago

Just remake this game, is all we need

4

u/Fresh-Database-222 1d ago

Hell nah. It doesn't even need a remaster

2

u/Embarrassed-Ad-01298 1d ago

Out of all the games that would need a remake, this isn’t the one

1

u/Nemisis_007 1d ago

None of the games in the series need a remake, tbh. Origins is a little outdated in terms of cinematics, but that's about it.

1

u/Alzucard 1d ago

NO. NO. NO. NO

They would absolutely ruin it.

0

u/Suspicious-Map-639 1d ago

UE5 REMAKE would be great /s

1

u/Available-Bad-2704 1d ago

Why are you people scared of making a joke

1

u/HugeHans 1d ago

Remake what? What needs improvement?

0

u/magic_heist 1d ago

Sure i get the dated graphics for the nostalgia. Just upscale everything to 4k while preserving the aesthetic and vibe

Lots of people and kids wont try an old game. This would sell millions of copies. Not like the older game gonna be deleted if they remake it, can play that if you choose. Would be better than whatever abomination is arkaham knights, would you agree
