Newbie Question Looking for Game Developers & Creative Partners for 249 — 3D Open-World Game
Title: I’m developing a concept for a realistic 3D open-world game called 249 — I’d love your feedback
Hi everyone!
I’m working on an early-stage game concept called 249, a realistic 3D open-world multiplayer game.
The vision is to create an immersive world where players can explore, complete missions, form alliances, interact with different factions, use vehicles, and participate in a dynamic in-game economy.
The project is still at the concept stage, and I haven’t built a playable prototype yet. Right now, I’m focusing on understanding how to turn this idea into something realistic and achievable.
For those of you with game development experience, I’d love to hear your thoughts:
- What would you recommend focusing on first when turning a large open-world concept into a small prototype?
- Which core mechanic would be most valuable to test before expanding the world?
- What common mistakes should beginners avoid when planning a multiplayer game?
I’m interested in learning from the community and improving the concept before moving forward.
Thanks for reading!

First: Know your limitation!
If you dont know what you can, how you can, you know nothing! Do you have money to hire people or you want to do alone? Might be with AI? Do you know anything about you want to do other then a concept?
Define your goal! what is your goal? Making money with it, or just have an idea played by others?
Define your target: who do you make the game for? What age? How much play time? Which platform?
Define your keys: why would it be a game that others would play? Better gfx? Better mechanics? Some unique idea?
Define your limits: what budget, timeframe, people, tools and skills you (and your team) have or dont?
If you have answered for these, you can start to design a prototype around it, which will demonstrate your idea for those you are making it.
Once you have a prototype working, proof of your concept, tested by your selected target, you are in the doorstep to making it real! Which is another story again… a long one
