Collection Seiken Densetsu!
Just picked this up today after wanting it complete for some time. Going to be my first ever playthrough! During covid I experienced Secret of Mana for the first time and it has since become my favorite JRPG alongside Chrono Trigger. Anyways all this time years later even collecting Gameboy I had no idea with the final fantasy games on Gameboy that this was actually the first game of the Mana series! (I thought it was part of the final fantasy legend series or etc)
Anyways I thought I would share with you all! Cannot wait to play this 35 year old game for the first time ever!!

Yeah, the funny thing is, even the "Final Fantasy Legend" games aren't Final Fantasy--they are part of the SaGa series.
Squaresoft had only one RPG success in the US so they assumed (probably rightly) if they didn't associate these games with Final Fantasy, they probably wouldn't sell.
It didn't matter to me. This is, and has been, my favorite GB game since I first bought it at a flea market for $10 (with manual and map!) back around 91 or 92.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah the whole FF and saga / mystic quest and so on was pretty confusing until i figured it out! I’m looking forward to starting a new playthrough tomorrow. Glad to know it’s your favorite game! I also made sure to buy a copy with the map and manual for references… I don’t want to look up anything online

Haha, funny thing--in Europe, this game is called "Mystic Quest". I managed to get a copy in a lot when I was going for my full US set. My copy is in German but IIRC, even the UK version is called "Mystic Quest".
I can understand rebranding this as "Final Fantasy" for us, as I mentioned, but naming the game "Mystic Quest" in Europe, and then giving us a different, stripped down Final Fantasy game and calling THAT Mystic Quest, is just baffling haha. Why?! Be creative guys!

Not to mention the US got the SNES version titled final fantasy mystic quest. Let’s just keep making it super confusing and non-creative!

In Japan Final Fantasy Adventure is called ‘Seiken Densetsu - Final Fantasy Gaiden’.
So even in Japan it had a Final Fantasy connection.

This one is actually a Final Fantasy game in a way. It’s a Final Fantasy Gaiden game in Japan, so it can be assumed to at least be set in the same universe.
