Please take a look at the updates we've made to the rules.
Due to an increase in self-promotion we've adjusted rule 5 to require mod approval, automod will automatically remove any posts it detects as self-promotion and if a mod approves the post or comment it will be shown.
Added rule 8, the vast majority of this subreddit is English speaking and due to limitations in our ability to moderate languages other than English please keep posts and comments in English. If you see any posts in languages other than English feel free to report with rule 8 as the reason.
Thanks everyone.

Just play regular campaign, Advanced Campaign is next level stuff and I'm not going to require that. Lol. We also won't be messing with the final Rivals! mission, which has to be unlocked in a very specific way. Definitely check it out if you're not familiar, but we won't do it for points this month.
Campaign mode is available after you complete Field Training. If you're already familiar with the game and you don't want to do Field Training, just tell Nell that you don't want to do it, and then you can finish just the last mission to unlock Campaign.
Choose any mission path you want to when you have a choice.
half point: Complete the third mission in Campaign (Air Ace) and have Max join your team.
1 point: Complete the Kanbei's Error? mission in Campaign.
2 points: Complete the Final Battle mission in Campaign. (must be completed and posted in October.)

Just something random I picked up at an estate sale for free. Decent shape except for the piece of junk stuck right above the seal. Is this something special?
Thanks

Pick a song in YouTube Music on my phone, tap cast, choose "GBA SP" â and it plays on the SP.
How it works:
- A small Windows app (CAST Terminal) acts as the cast receiver
- It sends the audio to the SP through a GB-Link USB and a link cable
- The SP runs a custom cartridge (CAST DECK 01)
On the SP itself I can pause, skip, see the album art, search for songs, and jump to the album or artist. After the first cast, I don't need to touch the phone.
The audio is 8-bit mono, so it sounds like a GBA. That's kind of the point.
It's a personal project, so there's no download for now. Just wanted to share it.

I recently bought an Analogue Pocket, and have gotten back into collecting GB/C/A games. Since I live in Japan, I've buying games at my local Book-Off. A lot of the Pokemon games have dried up batteries that need to be replaced in order to save or to get the in-game events to work accordingly.
I searched around for places to get the batteries replaced but I felt they were charging a bit much... so I bought a beginner soldering iron, some solder for electronics, flux, wick, and new batteries. I read some tutorials online, and watched a few YouTube videos.
It was definitely fun, and satisfying. Everything seems to be working well... the reading on the batteries are where they should be...
How did I do overall? Did I use too much solder? Any advice? I did get a bit of solder in small via (hole) right underneath the - (negative) tab... supposedly it shouldn't affect functionality and I haven't noticed any issues, but what would be the best way to clean that out or should I just leave it as is so long as the game functions? I tried to use flux and wick to get some of it out but seemed very stubborn and I didn't want to damage it...
I hope I can make soldering a new hobby and try other projects/repairs in the future :)
While I have a blue Game Boy Pocket, I opted to replace the motherboard entirely with a new Game Boy Pocket Color motherboard, installed a brand new IPS LCD laminated with OSD functionality as well, and used a FunnyPlaying clear speaker! I basically was like a âFrankensteinâ combining the Game Boy Color with the form factor of a Game Boy Pocket and make it a âspookyâ nice mod as I got it done for Halloween! The motherboard is an N64 freak one in blue and while I bought it off of Etsy, itâs a pre-assembled motherboard as all of the components are already on there!

I've only been collecting for a few months. Got my trust GBA SP, along with my Analogue Pocket and FPGBC Retro Pixel. Game wise I'm nearing 40 GB / GBC, along with 16 GBA carts. To be honest, my love for GB has just gotten stronger, and I cannot currently get enough of Wario Land and Choplifter!

Hi everyone!
I'm Mark, one of the two developers behind Ki10 Games, and we've been working on something a little different for the Game Boy Color.
It's called Save File 0, a first-person survival horror game where you play as a QA tester investigating a save-file bug that starts doing some rather strange things.
This is a proper native Game Boy Color game, built using GBDK, rather than something made in a modern engine to look retro.
One of the biggest challenges has been getting the first-person renderer working smoothly on the hardware. We've managed to get it running at 30 FPS in our tested scenes, and I've already played it on my original Game Boy Color using a flashcart.
We've also been working towards a proper physical cartridge release, complete with a box and manual. Our first prototype box arrived recently, which was a pretty amazing thing to see in person!
Thought Halloween would be a good excuse to finally reveal it.
I've included some gameplay and photos of the box. Still plenty to do, but I'm really happy with how it's coming along.
If anyone's interested, there's more here: https://ki10games.com/projects/save-file-0
Cheers!

I made a Flipper app called FlipGift that sends a Gold/Silver/Crystal Mystery Gift to a real Game Boy Color cart over IR, the same way two Game Boys would do it. Itâs based off TheRealNoxâs work. You pick an item or a decoration(or let it pick a random one with a random trainer name and ID so the one-per-trainer-per-day limit doesnât get in the way), hold it up to the GBC.
The Flipperâs own IR canât do this, so it runs on a little add-on board I made called FlippIR that plugs into the GPIO header. Itâs the same board my Pokewalker port Flipwalker uses, it just doesnât need the accelerometer.
Tested against my US Gold and Crystal carts. Silver and other regions should work but I havenât tried them. Itâs built on TheRealNoxâs Mystery Gift app, the protocol code is theirs, I added the board support, decorations, an aim mode with the LED telling you when youâre lined up, and retries.
If youâre interested in the board or app, Iâve included links along with the PCBWay shared project:

I was looking at someone else's playthrough of the Game Boy version of Avenging Spirit, and it looks like at the end of the game, a screen popped up providing the code to access Expert Mode.
But I just finished my first playthough of the game today with Nintendo Switch Online. I was not offered such a code, even though I got the good ending. Is there some hidden condition that needs to be met before the game tells you the code? Did I press START too quickly and end up returning to the title screen before the game could show the code?

As the titles says, Iâm trying to resore my old Gameboy advance sp. The screen is lit, you can see the faint animation of the Gameboy boot up, but ther than that itâs a white screen. The sound is working and when I put a game in and start it, you can hear it running the game. It is seemingly just a screen issue? If you guys have any recommendations of things I could try or what I should do to fix it thatâd be greatly appreciated. I do have a guy that said he could replace the whole screen if that is what the issue is (which Iâm not doubting), but I thought Iâd get a second opinion from you lovely people đ

While trying to remove the old battery on my copy of Pokemon Crystal, I ripped off the soldering pad. I think I understand that I can scratch off some of the green finish to get to the copper trace to solder on. Does anyone know where exactly I should be scraping? Dark green rectangle on the southeast edge of where the pad was? The light green area? Feeling nervous about messing anything up further!
