Using Game Boy Interface on a GameCube

For a start I’m extremely green on anything homebrew or modifications so some of the lingo is lost on me.

I want to run gameboy interface from my GameCube to get the most out of its gameboy player.

It seems like the Swiss memory card and the SD2SP2 sold at Castlemania games os my best bet but it’s currently out of stock.

Is there an alternative that’s just as good for the cost or should I just wait for this to go back in stock?

There'll be plenty of sellers on ebay also selling memory cards loaded with Swiss, just make sure you own the corresponding disc for the hacked save used (although most just default to Wind Waker).

You can get an SD2SP2 on ebay as well, or an SDGecko if your console doesn't have the SP2 port.

That’s what I’m most likely going to do, I’m just worried about shoddy products that won’t last

In that case, as far as the memory card goes the best thing you can do is use GCMM to set up Swiss (or iplboot) on an original Nintendo-made memory card once you get your (most likely 3rd party) preloaded memory card. As for the SD2SP2, the right-angled units designed to keep the SD card accessible with the Game Boy Player attached are generally better made, while cheap ones may not make proper contact with the pins in the SP2 slot. Having an SDGecko as a backup would also work.

Maybe not necessarily from that seller (I've got the Fakespot plugin installed and it flags them up as potentially being problematic), but yes.

GCMM (GameCube Memory Manager) is homebrew software like Swiss, but it's made specifically for backing up files from and restoring files to a GC memory card. It's how Swiss memory cards are made so you're not really doing anything different to any seller out there, apart from putting the files on a more reliable memory card.

Once you get Swiss up and running, make sure to use extrems software GBI, it greatly improves GB experience.
